Black Beauty Zucchini, Live Plant, Vegetable, 4.25 in. Grande
Black Beauty Zucchini, Live Plant, Vegetable, 4.25 in. Grande, was delivered last Monday.in a very well built cardboard box and in a very good condition. When pulled out of the box the plant root ball and soil were inside a plastic bag, the soil was moist and the plant looked wonderful. Do to the weather conditions I decided to leave it in the pot and planted it the next day.

Healthy, quick growing plant
I've never ordered a plant through the mail before so I was not sure what to expect. The zucchini plant arrived in a box with plenty of protection to make sure the plant wasn't damaged. When I removed the plant from the box, it was somewhat dry and wilted as you can see in the picture. After watering the plant, it quickly regained a healthy appearance. The tag that came with the plant said it is good for planting in a container which is perfect because that was how I was going to plant it. Initially I didn't have time to put it in a large pot so I temporarily put it in a small pot with some potting soil. A couple days later, I transferred it to a large pot and found that the roots had already grown to the bottom of the small pot. The plant is growing fast and seems to be very healthy. At this point, it's too early for any zucchini to have grown but it already has blossoms on it. I'm impressed with the quality of the plant and would not hesitate to purchase another similar plant.

I planted a couple of these and they exploded with great tasting Zucchini. Our family of six could hardly keep up with the amount we harvested throughout July and August. I'm already looking forward to it again next year!

This is an update to my earlier review (WildBill). The plant is doing well since mid-May. It is upright growth so it will definitely work well in container. The only problem is that Its giving only male flowers so no Zucchini is coming out. The pot contained two plants and both are showing only male flowers. You can bread these if you want, but they cannot be made in to bread.

    Looking Good!!!
Assuming the risk of mail order plants, this was not the best of previous experiences. Upon arrival, the box was in fantastic shape, but the plant inside had been seriously damaged due to improper packaging quality control. The two tabs that hold the pot in the bottom of the box were not pushed in resulting in the plant being tossed on it's stems and breaking most of them off. The remainder were damaged but not dead. I planted the plant quickly and watered regularly. The Squash began to root and took off after that. What started out disappointing is really looking up. I will still get plants from mail through Home Depot. This may be an isolated experience and the only one like it for me.

    Summer squash, and summer not
We make a dish of cooked Zucchini and summer squash with onions and have called it "summer squash and summer not". (Just a little family lore there,) These zucchini are destined to be in the mix one of these days weather permitting during the growing season . This plant arrived healthy and will soon be out in the yard soaking up the rain and sun and making us some summer not, as we call zucchini around here.

    Hardy looking plants
I'm in So California and the plants were shipped from Waco, Tx. They arrived via FedEx well packed and in good condition. The container contained two plants which had been grown together and showed no sign of being root bound. One branch had lost its end but this should not effect the overall plant viability. Package claims 49 days till harvest. We will see. its in full sun and on a drip system which will hit it every 4 days (recommendation 2-3 times a week till established), but I'll probably give it some extra water particularly if its hot. Card attached to the plant had clear planting instructions.

    Great Quality Plant!
This is a great quality plant! It came shipped really well and in great condition (despite being shipped in the summer Arizona heat!) and was ready to be planted. It barely had any shock and started growing fairly quickly. We haven't gotten any blooms or produce yet but I am sure that when we do they will be the same quality as the plant and absolutely delicious!
