Rose of Sharon will do well in a pot for 3 or 4 years then it will need to go in the ground. My R.O.S. did not bloom for 2 years then it bloomed like crazy while it was still in the pot. I couldn't sell my house so it stayed in the pot too long then it died at the beginning of year 5 in the pot. I have been growing in pots for 50 years so I know my ROS died from being potted too long.

YES even in a pot in zone 9 mine wintered well outside on my deck, in full sun.

Can I plant it next to the window? Will the root damage the structure of the house?

I have planted mine approximately 4' from my foundation, in the center of a new perennial garden I have just added. The previous one I had was approximately 5-6' tall and I had it 3-4 yrs. Before I moved.

When mine to aboutv4' tall I trimmed the lower branches so it was a tree. You have to train it.

I want to order two of these - but I want to pick them up. I live in Coconut Creek, FL.

I got mine through UPS and they came expertly packaged in pots and ready to plant.

How do you protect the plant in the winter from nyc cold weather?

Rose of Sharon can overwinter to 20 below. So no need to protect them from the NYC weather.

I am so thrilled with my purchase. I did not know that this color hibiscus existed and couldn't wait to get it home. It arrived safely but was very tiny. I didn't know if I would have much luck growing this beauty but planted it in a pot with good soil and hoped for the best. The leaves stayed a nice, healthy green but no signs of buds. I thought I would probably have to wait several weeks, perhaps months before getting a bloom. To my excitement, I woke up to a beautiful little flower a few days ago. I would not call the color blue though. I would describe it as a light purple/periwinkle. Mine is not as bright and vivid as the advertised photo but I really do love it! I hope it continues to do well. If so, I will be purchasing more for sure! Thank You!

Beautiful Blooms
When I received the plant, it was smaller the expected, but healthy. I didn't notice the size of the plant in the description before ordering, so it's my fault the expectation was off. I immediately planted the shrub and within weeks, noticed buds forming. Within months, I'm seeing flowers blooming daily or every week days. Very satisfied and hope it continues to grow.

Tiny but healthy
I was a little disappointed when I opened the very well package with 4 of these hibiscus. The disappointment was on me as I didn’t pay attention to the size on the description. I went by the picture and rushed as I was afraid of them being sold out. The plants are very tiny, but look very healthy. I took them out, watered well, and put them in a semi-shaded area for couple days. They seems to be doing OK. I will transfer them to a bigger pot, and will try updating this post in about a month. Still, based on the description and what I got I’m very happy with this purchase, specially the way it was packaged. I recommend them.

I had bought this plant from another company in the fall and planted as directed. It never grew. I was disappointed so I looked rather late in Spring and found the same plant at Home Depot. Planted as soon as I received (in great condition). It didn't grow a lot this year, but had at least 4 beautiful blueish flowers. Love it!

This is a little beautiful flowering plant. I take inside during winter and leave outside in Indiana summers. It will appear like it died coming inside but comes back. My previous one lasted over 5 years then suddenly died. This new one is growing slowly but it will branch out eventually and reach about 2-3' tall at the most. Beautiful purple\lavender flowers and I would almost call it hibiscus like.

The Proven Winners Azurri Blue Satin Rose of Sharon arrived intact with many leaves; the plant itself was encased in a plastic drawstring bag to prevent damage to the roots and to keep the plant from drying out. The plant is about 18 inches height; I imagine it will grow to 5-6' tall and wide as the other Proven Winners Rose of Sharon plants in the yard.

I hope this grows to a big, blue GIANT!
I really love blue flowers, and this Hibiscus really caught my eye for a project of a garden that I am doing. I ordered this shrub from Home Depot, and it arrived very well packaged. The box was marked "This Side Up!" clearly. The quart container was firmly held in place by collapsed tabs. The plant was inside a breathable plastic bag, inside the quart container. The box also contained a great planting aid with all particulars and instructions. I immediately transferred this little guy to a planting container 8x its size. I used Miracle Gro Potting Mix. Once established and growing bigger, I intend to transfer this into the ground. The little guy only stands about 8 inches tall, and his leaves are very firm, green, and full. He is too small for a budding head, but they will come hopefully. I'm excited to have received this, and although he is just a little plant right now, I'm happy. He is growing well. I intend to follow up on this review, and plan on buying more of these. Thank you Home Depot for offering this plant. Everything about it from ordering, packaging, shipping, receiving, quality, etc., was and is perfect.
