Q:are Bobo Hydrangea deer resistant?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Bobohydrangea, I live on the side of a mountain on 57 acres and lots of deer on and around my yard all the time and they never bother any of my Hydrangea's a few different types beside this one all doing great

A:  We have had deer in our yard at night, not many though. They seem to leave my hydrangeas alone but we don't have large amounts of deer. We live surrounded by woods so they might be finding something better to eat, since they don't bother my roses either. We used to have deer tormenting our outdoor dogs at night but leaving a light on through the night kept the deer out of our yard.

by|Aug 2, 2021

A:  Yes, at least mine were in Southeadtern Indiana.

by|Jul 31, 2021

A:  I never had a problem with deer. If your plant is small, you might want to make a small fence out of chicken wire.

by|Jul 31, 2021

A:  Hello Bobohydrangea, thank you for asking. We are happy to help! Our Proven Winners Bobo Hydrangea is not a deer-resistant plant. Our White Chiffon Rose of Sharon Hibiscus is a great alternative plant that is deer resistant and attracts pollinators! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at (734)654-7485 or Helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com. Kind Regards, Allie.

A:  Hi Theresa, Thank you for asking! Spring and Fall are ideal times to plant Proven Winners Bobo Hardy Hydrangeas, however many gardeners have success planting through early summer. You will want to water deeply for the first couple of weeks, as the plant establishes, and feed with a continuous release fertilizer. If you have any additional questions, please always feel free to reach us at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com or (734) 654-7485. Happy Gardening! Nikki

                  Not a good plant
I bought this from Home Depot July 2021 carried over 2 winters. It will bloom for a few weeks and then flowers turn brown not at all what I expected. See photo.

                    Looks almost dead
Very small, looks almost dead, leaves don't look healthy. The other 2 hydrangeas I bought (Invincbelle Limetta) were same size and price and look way better.

I bought 2 of these and planted them both at the same time.. One has grown considerably, while the other is very stunted. If I had seen this in a store, I would not have purchased. I hope they survive.

It is my fault. I should have read the fine print. I love Home Depot, love hydrangeas, buy them often. But I have never bought live plants on-line. The virus and ensuing shelter in place order have made it impossible to shop for plants in a store, I was glad to have an option to order them to be delivered. I bought ferns from Home Depot in the same order, they came, they were big and beautiful. The hydrangea: It came straight from the Proven Winner company. Proven winner? The plant is 5 inches. Two very skinny, bare 5 inch twigs in a little pot of dirt. For 19 bucks. The fine print way down on the listing says that. the plant shipped will be 5 inches and dormant. I should have read all the way to the bottom. If they had posted a picture of what you would receive, no one would order this plant. You would never see this plant in a Home Depot. Luckily, there was a very nice person in the return department.

I feel mixed about my reviews. I bought both the BOBO Hardy hydrangea and the white ball one and it came alive and well yesterday but super tiny(one is a little shorter than the length of my palm, the other sprouted already)....will need to pay closer attention to it since it's baby like... Probably gonna take a few years to take off. See pictures

I bought 2 of those. One came very big with a lot of leaves. The other one came very little and not many leaves. Few days after planting the second one all leaves came out and it looks like it is dying. I am very sad because I really needed 2 of them. My advice is to use your local store and buy plants. Online store is not guarantee that it will come as you expected...

Since it's late fall, I won't be able to rate or give an honest recommendation on how this plant will be until spring/summer. However, it did arrive healthy, and looks very well so far after planting it. I am truly amazed at the lightening fast shipping of Home Depot-- it felt like an instant transport straight out of my computer screen. Kinda creepy awesome!

Plants were small and may not make it
Although I knew what size pot these came in, I expected the plants to be larger and more vigorous. The attached photo was taken within a week of planting and they were watered every day and planted in partial shade. They probably won't make it and definitely not worth the money. Very disappointed.
