How to Prune and Trim your Bushes
Little Lime Hydrangea from Proven Winners maintains a short stature while adding a visual punch in the garden. In summer, lime green blooms open on strong stems with no drooping. As it ages, rich pink coloring emerges and last through fall. Its bright bloom coloration makes it an excellent choice for cut flower gardens and as a bold mass planting.

I purchased a little lime hydrangea in the one gallon container in 2017. Although the plant was very healthy, it did not bloom at all in its first year. The following year, the plant had a few blooms but looked nothing like the picture on the Home Depot website. This year the hydrangea has come into its own. It is an absolute beast in the landscape. It’s at least five feet tall with dozens of huge blooms. It’s now mid-September and it’s still producing new stalks and beautiful white flowers. I think it’s a terrific plant. You just need to give it time, lots of sun and a little Rose Tone in the spring.

Do I need to prepare the soil before planting?

Yes, I prefer to add 1 c. vermiculite to the loose soil mixed with Timberland garden soil and a couple hands full of peat moss. Good Luck.

Can the Little Lime be planted in a shaded area with not much sunlight? Will it thrive and get blossoms?

Asked by Lovehydrangeas June 17, 2017
1
Answer

Hi Lovehydrangeas, The Little Lime hydrangea requires 4-6+ hours of direct sunlight to thrive and bloom. If it does not get enough light it will perform poorly and most likely not bloom for you. If you have any questions, please call our hotline (734) 654- 7485. Best regards, Fallon

Do the little lines keep any of their leaves in the winter?

How big do Little Limes grow?

Asked by Mary April 28, 2017
1
Answer

Hi Mary, Little Lime Hydrangeas are a dwarf variety that grow to be 3-5 feet tall and wide. If you are looking for something larger, we also offer Limelight Hydrangea, which grows to be 6-8 feet tall and wide. Both shrubs make wonderful additions to the landscape. If you have any additional questions, feel free to call us at (734) 654-7485. Thanks, Hailee

My stems aren't strong and my blooms hang on the ground. Is this normal?

Asked by Tricia August 25, 2016

Answer

Hi Tricia, It is common for young Hydrangeas to droop in the first year as they are focused on growing. You can pinch them back in the spring to help them out. Once they get a couple of years old, they will not droop. If you have any other questions, feel free to call us at (734) 654-7485. Thanks, Hailee

I bought 1 little lime hydrangea shrub online and while shopping at HD I found the shrubs in the garden center and decided to remove my dying evergreens , so I bought 2 more. Can't wait to see how they fill out next summer.

love this plant
Im trying to go monochromatic in my garden with various shafes of green and this little lime hydrangea is perfect. It’s a dwarf limelight so it fits perfectly in my garden but has already given so much as far as blooms and color. It was a little dry after being shipped but with a little love, water and sunlight, it has perked up quickly and it’s my favorite plant in my garden! It’s very healthy and im buying two more. Love this new hydrangea!

I ordered 4 of the 1 gallon Little Lime Hydrangeas. Each arrived in their own box, carefully packaged, and in very good shape. The nursery from which they came sent daily text messages as to when they would arrive and options to change delivery if needed. A delivery window was given each time so I could be sure to take them in as soon as they arrive. Each plant was healthy and easily transplanted into the prepared bed on the side of my house. Although I planted these only 3 weeks ago I am surprised to see multiple buds on each branch with small flowers already showing. They should be in full bloom within a week. Very pleased with the purchase.

I ordered 6 plants, in the 4.5 in. qt. pots on Friday Aug 3 and they arrived today, Aug 8 - only 5 days of being ordered (2 of which were weekend days). The plants are well packed, the soil is moist, and there are no broken branches or signs of stress from being shipped in this August heat to middle Tennessee. I'm looking forward to planting these and expect they will grow well since they arrived in such healthy condition. I've uploaded some pics of the plants and the packing box.

I expected better
Received my 6 plants Tuesday afternoon, they looked so pitiful. Most of the leaves had fallen off. Planted them Wednesday morning, Friday morning they dont look like they’re going to survive. Keeping my fingers crossed they make it.

Add some color..
This was the first time getting a plant through the mail. I was a bit nervous until I saw how it was shipped, as shown in the picture. It arrived in perfect condition. As you can see, it came as a small, non budding plant. After removing the plant and decided to put it in a location that receives equal amount of sun/shade throughout the day. Unfortunately, during that same time, the house was getting painted and through the carelessness of the painters, the plant was trampled. I have no doubt it would have grown like it should have. At this point I will replace it and move on.

Little Lime Hydrangea - 1 gal. Shrub
Little Lime shrub is a smaller form of 'Limelight'. Little Lime hydrangea will mature to about 4 feet tall, with a spread of 4 feet. This plant is sold online and arrives in protected packaging. The hydrangea arrived very healthy is ready for planting. Even though the plant is not yet blooming it should mature to have large lime green blooms that will turn bright pink later on in the season. Suggested planting in sun and hardiness zones are 3-9 so this plant should be great in SC. Suggested treatments for this species will be to continue the Proven Winners fertilizers and irrigate with WaterWise kit. Instructions also suggest applying a thick mulch around the root zone in winter to protect it in exposed locations or colder zones. I’m looking forward to all the large blooms.
