How easy is it to turn this hydrangea to purple blooms? I have tried to turn endless summer bloo...

To change colors on hydrangea takes a chemistry lesson. PH scale from 1 to 7 is acidic from 7 to 14 is alkaline. Blue has a lot of aluminum sulphate in the soil, pink has a lot of lime. Now to turn one to purple takes a red hydrangea, example teller red hydrangea, if you add a cup of aluminum sulphate around the base in a year or so it should turn purple. But this particular hydrangea and a lot of the new cultivar have the color bred into them. The way I understand it, it is the older varieties that you can change colors by adding either lime for pink and aluminum sulphate for blue. I have seen the same hydrangea bush both pink and blue on very old types.

Healthy plants; superbly packaged. I'm hoping to enjoy blooms on these hydrangeas for many years to come in my gardens. Since I do not make the time to winter protect any of my plants, I am hopefully that these will be hardy and bloom in my zone 5 gardens, unlike many of the marcophylla hybrids I've tried. The winter hardiness and size of these hydrangeas is what convinced me to order them. These will be planted among hostas and lilies in my partial shade perennial border. My order of four hydrangeas - two tuff stuff and two bobo - arrived without issue. The plants are all healthy, leafed out and ready to grow. The packing was excellent - the box was supportive and ventilated and the plant root balls were placed in plastic bags, secured with draw cords. This ensured delivery of my plants with no signs of damage or distress. My only issue with my order is that either a substitution was made or the plant packager grabbed the wrong plant for my 2nd tuff stuff. The marking on the pot leads my to believe my 2nd tuff stuff is actually an invincibelle ruby. Based upon the quality of the shipping system and the sale price [and free shipping offer], I will be ordering a few more hydrangeas from Lowes & Proven Winners later today. They delivered healthy plants that I cannot source locally from either the garden department at a big box store or from a nursery.

Well Packed
I was very impressed with the packaging (see pictures). I have never ordered potted plants on the Internet before. The tag indicates that this hydrangea will grow to be 2.5' x 2.5'. There seem to be really good varieties to chose from compared to the limited selection in the store. I ordered 4 plants. They all arrived in the same box.
