Product Details

Castle Spire Blue Holly from Proven Winners has superior vigor that provides lustrous dark green foliage that lasts all year. When planted near pollinator Castle Wall, this blue holly from Proven Winners produces red berries for fall and winter enjoyment. Fruit is not edible and can be toxic to pets.
  • Castle spire blue holly from Proven Winners is a compact evergreen with white spring flowers and red winter berries that pop from dark green foliage fruit can be toxic to pets
  • Prefers partial to full sun (4+ hours) and high moisture, grows to be 6-10 ft. tall and 3-4 ft. wide, at time of shipment, this plant will be about 1.5 to 2-years old
  • Blooms from early to late spring, prune to shape immediately after flowering, 3 Gal. shrubs are 8 in. to 4 ft. tall when they are shipped, depending on the season
  • Hardiness zones: 5-7, be sure to check your USDA hardiness zone if you want this plant to come back year after year

        A:  Hi Tom, Castle Spire and other Ilex like Castle Wall may be pruned after flowering if desired, but its natural columnar habit should need little trimming. Castle Spire holly is a female variety. It's best to avoid pruning female hollies, as cutting them back at any time of the year will result in diminished flowers and subsequent fruit.               The Castle Spire Blue Holly Evergreen Shrub arrived healthy and beautiful. A greenhouse technician expertly packaged and shipped the live evergreen in a very professional manner. The box was roomy and had plenty of breathing holes. Inside the pot, a drawstring plastic sack secured all the fluffy, moist soil. The evergreen is so beautiful with it's strong stems and lovely leaves. I'm so pleased and happy with it.

              Nice Addition To My Planter Beds
              The Castle Spire Blue Holly shrub is visually pleasing and makes a nice addition to our planter beds. The shrub is approximately two feet tall and at its widest section is approximately ten to twelve inches. The leaves are shiny while the branches are strong and pliable. This holly bush is hardy and healthy that will look better and better as it fills in and continues to grow season after season.

              Arrived looking healthy.
              First, if I had gone to the store to pick out a Castle Spire Blue Holly myself I would have looked for one a little better filled out. That being said, the one I received arrived healthy and green with no bugs or bug chews, no mold and no bad odors or signs of disease. Every leaf was shiny green with new sprouts a sunny bright green. General height in my sample is about 22". The tallest single branch is 30". Mine has no cross branching. It looks a little sparse depending on the side you look at. It is still a very young shrub and I'm thinking it will fill out with age. I think it's suppose to wind up more triangular shaped than most Hollies. No flowers or berry buds on mine, and I don't have a male plant. Hollies are my favorite shrub so happy to to add this specimen to the group. The ones I've grown from babyhood did best in a bed and not in the grass.
