Product Overview

Farm House to Modern, MDF Shiplap is a perfect choice for an accent wall or the whole house. MDF Shiplap has many advantages over pine an other wood products used for accent walls. It is primed MDF board that is straight and smooth, and doesn't have imperfections that can bleed through the paint.
  • MDF is appropriate for many applications because it is smooth, uniform and won't warp
  • Medium density fiberboard or MDF, is a composite wood product similar to particleboard; it's made out of wood waster fibers glued together with resin heat and pressure
  • Does not warp or split and does not expand and contract like nature
  • Latex or oil based paints can be used when finishing MDF

How did you adhere it to the wall? Nails? Glue? Did you paint them before install or after?

Hi Lisa! Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. We would recommend following the below installation guide for the Pac Trim 0.591 in. x 6 in. x 96 in. Primed MDF Shiplap Siding. Per the manufacturer, these can be installed with either nails or adhesive. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/f7/f77df3b7-8115-4365-a796-1dc51003afba.pdf If you are needing to paint the shiplap siding, it is recommended to apply one coat prior to installation. Once installed you can either apply a second coat or complete touchup painting. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

It's mdf, same material as a baseboard. If water were to repeatedly get on it, I think it could easily swell and deform. For high humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens I would not get this product. Spend the extra money for a solid wood product.

mark your studs, 18 gauge 2 inch nail. nail on the face and putty the holes afterwards. no different than a base board.
