Hi Lisa! Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. We would recommend following the below installation guide for the Pac Trim 0.591 in. x 6 in. x 96 in. Primed MDF Shiplap Siding. Per the manufacturer, these can be installed with either nails or adhesive. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/f7/f77df3b7-8115-4365-a796-1dc51003afba.pdf If you are needing to paint the shiplap siding, it is recommended to apply one coat prior to installation. Once installed you can either apply a second coat or complete touchup painting. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
Use a latex primer, as that is what was applied at the factory. Mike
The product has been primed so it is ready to paint.
MDF is not recommended for exterior use and the label on the product states for interior use only.
It's mdf, same material as a baseboard. If water were to repeatedly get on it, I think it could easily swell and deform. For high humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens I would not get this product. Spend the extra money for a solid wood product.
mark your studs, 18 gauge 2 inch nail. nail on the face and putty the holes afterwards. no different than a base board.
