Product Overview
MDF has many advantages over plank wood, particleboard or high density fiberboard. It's very smooth because the wood fibers used in its manufacture are uniform and fine. This makes it have low tear out, which means that when sawed, the end has a smooth cut instead of a jagged edge. This also means that a coat of primer and a couple of coats of paint take well, leaving an attractive, finished surface unlike other composite wood products.

- Medium density fiberboard or MDF, is a composite wood product similar to particleboard; it's made out of wood waster fibers glued together with resin heat and pressure
- Does not warp or split and does not expand and contract like nature

Answersits completely sealed & primered so a little splash here & there wouldn't hurt it. mine is in a bathroom wall behind my sinks & vanity. i painted over the primer.

AnswersI used 18ga brads shot from a Porter Cable pneumatic nail gun. I nailed in the tongue area where if you are careful, no nails will show. You will however have to do some face nailing as the pieces DO NOT interlock. I used 1.25" brads when nailing into studs and 2" brads when going through drywall into a stud. Alternatively, you could use some construction adhesive to minimize face nailing. Do not consider using finishing nails and a hammer unless you enjoy the frustration of bent nails and doing surface repairs to the MDF.
Can ship lap be put on studded walls or does it need to go over Sheetrock? Can it go on the wall...

Love this stuff! I've done three walls with it....and more to go. It's easy to work with and all boards are straight. The only exception is that in shipping some of the boards get a little banged up. All are still usable, but you need to be a little more creative in where they are utilized or ensure that the lapping pieces are able to lap without a bulge if an edge is buggered. The primer on this is good, a little matte and a little sheen and paints over well. Added 1x2 MDF trim at ceiling and wall corners where the shiplap comes in contact with the drywall. The contractors working on the rest of the remodel have asked us to do their walls in shiplap, too. :-)

Great quality. We ordered three boxes of this shiplap. Only one board in all three boxes was dinged up a little. Nothing I couldn't live with. It was pretty easy to install on the walls and it looks great.
