I have the crimping too ( Data Shark #PA70014)l but need connectors. Will these connectors work with this crimping tool?

Will this tool work with the brand Ideal - BNC Compression Connector

Will this tool work with the brand Ideal - BNC Compression Connector RG-59 Item number on box 92-704 the box on back only notes Ideal brand compression tools #'s 30-793 or 33-632 - and they are quite a bit more costly only need to crimp the end of one line so just dont see spending so much money seeing them from 60-80 dollars for the tool to use one time ;-/
Asked by: KitD
It should. I'm not certain: the RG-59 is just more narrow than RG6 etc.

Will the included compression tool work with Paladin or Ideal RG-6 RCA compression connectors?

Will the included compression tool work with Paladin or Ideal RG-6 RCA compression connectors?
Asked by: Jim
My opinion is that it doesn't work very well with the connectors provided in the kit. I had a very difficult time working the connector sleeve under the braided outer wire. once accomplished it was easy to use the tool to compress the connector down into it's seat and seems to be a good solid connection. The cable techs make this task seem so easy when watching them and I don't believe this is an equivalent tool.

Customer Reviews

DataShark Cable Television/Satellite Compression Crimp Kit is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 112.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good crimper & connectors, the rest, not so much. As a kit it provides instant gratification but you might want to buy better quality individual pieces if you have a lot of connections to make. The bad: The cable cutter is decidedly light duty - the blade is nicked after less than a dozen cuts. The stripper requires an awkward two step process: the Klein Tools Dual-Cartridge Radial Stripper Model # VDV100801SEN they sell is a much better tool which allows you to pre-assemble the connection's alignment before committing to the squeeze of the crimper. The good: The crimper and connectors however, were worth it for me. Using the Klein stripper I already own, I handily replaced all my in-house "crimped" cable connectors with the more expensive "compression" terminations to great effect. I'm sold on the compression method, as are cable installers and the FCC. The binding that occurs with crimped connectors has vanished - I can actually hook up equipment tightly by hand without wriggling cables every quarter turn- they're very smooth. New connections throughout the house has cured my cable internet woes and I now have a near perfect -2 dBmV power & 37 dB Signal to Noise Ratio connection along with a great picture on every set.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tools seem good quality and work well - compression connectors... not so much The strippers do the job they are supposed to - as one reviewer said, let them do the work and they work great (2-3 passes to remove down to the copper then 1 pass with the second slot to strip to the shielding). The cutters make a nice clean cut. The crimper has a nice smooth motion and easily snaps the compression fittings together. However, that's were the good ends. The fittings they include are supposed to be for either RG6 or RG6 Quad. However, I have RG6 (confirmed with RG6 printed on the cable sheath). As other users have noted, the compression fittings slide right off (I tried with the foil still on the dielectric and also with the foil peeled back with the braided shielding). I suspect that all of the good reviews that mention the fittings working were either all RG6 Quad (and they worked because there is thicker shielding for the fitting to compress against) or some of these kits have RG6 Quad only fittings included by mistake. I now have to purchase different fittings (I'll be purchasing fittings specifically designed for RG6, since I'm not sure how a fitting can work with both types).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For the money a dependable kit. The Stripper is inexpensive but does the job. If you are having problems with the datashark connectors make sure you are not using the RG6 connectors on RG59 cable. All the Datashark Connectors I have used worked great even the RCA type connectors

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Entry Level Kit The kit is a great thing to have in a pinch or to use as your everyday termination kit. The only downside is the clothespin stripper, which is inherent to this style, the center conductor isn't long enough after stripping when the cable is pushed up against the stop. I bend mine away from the housing to allow me to push the cable thru the stripper and have a 1/2" center conductor showing after termination and then I use the wire cutter in the set to trim the excess by laying the cutter flat against the end of the connector and cutting the center conductor. This give you plenty of penetration into the RF connector of the device. The recommended 1/4" isn't long enough for some devices and you get intermittent signals.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing The process of preparing the wire for attaching the connections was more tedious than I expected. After carefully following the instruction, including using the correct wire size, and attaching the compression connector, the connectors kept falling off. The connectors are expensive and once compressed are worthless. I purchased the product in hopes of saving time and money, but ended up wasting both.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Went back to the store Unfortunately, the 30 minute review I did for this set was rejected by HD due to me telling you the best place to get the ends and is gone forever. So this review (my second and last for HD) will be short, sweet and pointless. I took it back to the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use, stripper tool could be better. I bought this kit because I had intermittant signal stength from the wall to the back of the cable box. The stripper tool does not allow for the proper amount of copper to come through the end of the cable connector, other than that this is a very easy tool to use and if in a bind it will do the job quickly and easily. Remember to strip coax about 1/16th to 1/8th long than the strip amount on tool and you should have no problems. working great and only took abount less than 10 minutes to do. if you have a little mechanical ability and can use pliers,it should be no problem to use this tool.
