Questions & Answers

Does the nailer come with a battery charger?

Asked by: JPBal
Yes.

What does it mean when some reviews mention "gas' or "fuel cells" in the use of this tool?

(I am researching buying a nail gun for a handyman cousin who lost all his tools in a flood - so I have very limited knowledge.)
Asked by: Mooky
This gun uses a battery PLUS a can of some sort of butane like substance. The battery drives a spark, which ignites the butane fuel, which creates an explosion, which shoots the nail out of the gun. The fuel is a consumable (meaning you'll use it up after so many nails) and they sell "Fuel+Nail" packs that contain the correct amount of nails to one can of fuel.

What's the difference in the angled and straight finish nailers? Please advise Steve

I need to replace an existing finish nailer that has quit working it is a pass load as well.
Asked by: Sknight
If you hold the gun against a flat wall, a straight nailer will shoot "straight" into the wall - e.g. at a 90 degree angle to your body. If you do the same with an angled nailer it will shoot at a slight angle (the exact angle depends on the gun). There's pros and cons to each, and it depends on what kind of job you're working on. I personally prefer an angle nailer, even for trim. When you're doing rough framing, an angle nailer lets you shoot "toe nails" into a stud/base plate. If you're doing trim, an angle nailer with a long enough nail will try to reach into the base plate if you shoot into a space where there is no stud... as opposed to a stright nailer that would have just sent the nail into raw drywall with nothing to grab on to.

Customer Reviews

16-Gauge Cordless Lithium-Ion Angled Finish Nailer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as good as pneumatic gun I am a general contractor who specializes in remodeling. I have read many reviews about this gun and debated on making the leap into the cordless nail guns. I final got fed up with constantly spending the time to set up the pneumatic nailer (hose, compressor and gun). I took my time and broke my decision down like this; 1)How much time will it save me? I figured it takes 10-15mins to pullout my compressor, hose and nail gun out of my trailer and set it up everyday. Then an additional 15-20mins to put it back. That is a lot of time wasted. 2)Does help me do my work better then the my pneumatic nail gun? Yes, I have no hose I can trip on or damage walls with. There is no delay to allow the compressor to catch up. 3)Does it cost to much to operate? No. It does cost money for the gas and cleaning products to clean every so often but that is a very small fee for all the convenience of a great working cordless nailer. All in all, it is a great product that I would recommend buying if you do a lot of finish work or use a 16Ga nail gun a lot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from overhauled product not as good I've been a huge fan of the paslode products especially the cordless angled finish nailer. I've outfitted all of my trucks with one and they are definitely our goto nailer for everything. Unfortunately, I'm having an issue with this new design. The quality in the design, handle, housing is lacking and feels like it will simply fall apart. I purchased 4 of the updated versions over the last year and two which are heavily used without a problem but the other two have a ton of issues for being brand new. I have decided to take them back as a result and I will be looking into something else this time around.I just don't feel the quality went into this overhaul.I love the new long lasting battery and quick swap of the fuel cartridge and that's about it.Even the giant P sticker (which doubles as a soft resting pad if you lay the gun down, is the first thing to fall off)Have jamming issues with the 2 newest of the guns was a big issue. Couldn't even come to figure out why side by side with the workhorse ones, they continued to fail for no apparent reason. The plastic housing on the guns shifts under grip strength and firing of the nail enough to question its durability. My old design guns are still working and I have since put them back into service as I can't rely on this brand anymore. Shame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend I had two of the previous models, but they were stolen. I was pleased with the old ones for small jobs. I bought this model an use them for all jobs. There is no job to big for this nailer. My old one I pulled out once or twice every two weeks. This model I pull out almost daily. Being fully cordless I save time in setting up an putting away a compressor. Time is money an at the end of the month it helps my bottom line. I also do not worry about damaging a work piece or surrounding area with a hose dragging around. Performance is just as good if not better then a conventional pneumatic nail gun. It has jammed a few times but not as often as a my fully pneumatic ones. When it does jam it's very easy to free the nail an keep going. The only disadvantage I can think of is its size. It is somewhat bulky. There have been a few times I can't get it into a tight space. That's rare but it's happened a few times. Overall it's a great product an I recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the tool I've been waiting for! Excellent quality. I have another nailer, but because it needs an air compressor I never use it, especially when I have trim work to be in my basement. The inconvenience of having to drag my air compressor there makes me not want to use it at all. Now this cordless nailer is awesome, so easy to use and it doesn’t jam. The instructions are super easy to follow and the battery charges up fairly quickly. This nailer comes in a cool hard case with a handle, so it’s easy to carry around. I just finished installing trim on 4 new doors and using this nailer made the job go by faster and I had fun doing it. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for convenience and quality. Paslode stands behind their products. For this nailer, they offer free 2 year service promise “No questions asked”. So if it stops working for any reason, they will fix it, no hassles, no questions, no cost!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All about convience and speed This is my first non-pneumatic Nailer. The Paslode 16-gauge Finish Nailer is really about convenience and speed. I noticed how fast the work goes once its setup and you are into the groove. Had no problems with misfires or pop up nail heads. Adjusting the nail depth with the control wheel on the side of the gun is faster than using tools. No air compressor and hose is a big plus. Its light weight about five pounds and comfortable especially when holding overhead. The side hook for my tool belt is a nice place to rest it during use. I like the clear sight view of the spot to nail and the angled slope and size of the tool for getting into tighter spots. The cost of angled nails and fuel for some is an issue, but the convenience of not needing an air compressor for small and big jobs is worth it in my opinion with no setup time alone. To be fair I don't use a Nailer every day so I go for convenience over cost. Its ideal for smaller jobs and a pleasure to use on bigger ones.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful! When functional, this gun was great! The problem is that (like all Paslode guns) it doesn't last. It worked great for a few strips of nails, but then it starts to have firing issues. The dumb troubleshooting manual will tell you to pull it apart and make sure the spark plug wire is attached. It always will be, but sometimes the gun will magically work after you put it back together, though only for a few nails! These guns will turn a one hour job into a six hour job! Mine is now completely dead. Less than 1000 nails through it, but since the warrantee period has expired, Paslode won't do anything to help me! My 18 gauge nailer finally died for good yesterday, after about 200 nails. Based on past experience with Paslode, I won't even bother to contact them. My Paslode framing nailer still functions sometimes, but it needs to be taken apart after you shoot a few nails! Eventually it will completely die too!! Bottom line... Don't buy any of these cordless Paslode guns!!!
