Questions & Answers

With narrower spacing and shorter screws would thses work with composite decking as the seating and backrest material?

Asked by Alex August 29, 2020

How short are the screws? They need to be 1/2 inch. Space the brackets 2 feet on center and you'll be fine. And of course be sure you are using screws for composite decking. :-)

why do you advertise a product when you no longer sell it, wasting my time

Asked by fedup July 14, 2020

Hello fedup, we apologize for any inconvenience. We are working toward having these brackets available for online purchase as quickly as possible. For now they are only available in select stores. Thank you!

Is there a picture of the completed bench?

Asked by Sandy June 22, 2017

Yes, Google and youtube has many for this product and others like it.

Brackets are great, bench design needs work
Brackets are great, bench design- well, my bottom is bigger than what they put in plans, so I extended the wood (wood supports on bottom to keep it secure)- works great. I also put up arm rests on side as well as platform for cups.

Easy to install deck bench
Great sturdy bracket, we built a bench on our floating raft.

Great product: Saves time, money, and aggrivation
The main thing is how light and strong it is. No hassles with tons of lumber and extra screws as this method is a time saver. A bit pricey but forgivable for the performance delivered. It takes the guesswork out of angles and weight constraints. I’m a bit amiss with some reviews stating issues with the product. For me, I followed the instructions-installing each 2 feet on center and made sure my deck was structurally sound to accept the fasteners for a strong hold. I spray painted over the black with a rustic brown a no issues for 2 years. So overall, this product saved me a day of extra work and my guests marvel at it because they never seen this type of installation. To the folks at PeakProducts: Nicely done!

Conceptually great, poor execution
Conceptually great, poor execution. These brackets really don't save time and they are a pain to work with. They need to be wider, that would make them easier to install screws into the boards. Also, two 2x6's do not make a nice comfortable bench (maybe for a child). If you do purchase these, first thing you should do is THROW AWAY the instructions. I used 1/4" x 1" lag bolts with a swivel attachment to install (and a very long, very flexible 1/8" drill bit). Trying to get regular screws up under the brackets is difficult, you'll be glad you used the lag bolts. If you want a bench that adults can sit comfortably on, you'll need to go much wider than two 2x6 for the bench seat. I would recommend a 2x6 along with a 2x8 (at least). You can run a horizontal 2x4 or 2x6 across the top of the vertical support to add length to attach the 2x8 that will overhang the bracket. Once built, benches are very solid and strong.

If you really dont mind working hard to achieve the final result
These brackets were nothing I would call easy. They are hard to get wrenches into tight spots, and there is much knee work to put in all the screws. I cursed them many times. I would look at another brand that is designed better.
