Questions & Answers

why doesn't Home Depot offer military discounts on line like they do in the stores?

Not all of us are able to get to the stores on a regular basis and w/o help and some planning.
Asked by: bob
As a veteran myself that regularly purchases online from Home Depot. I have in the past taken the receipt(s) printed from my on line purchase and stored it in my truck. Then when I do make it to a store to pick up wood, etc... I take in the receipts and they gladly credit my military discount once I show my I.D.

can dry ice be used in this cooler

can dry ice be used in this cooler
Asked by: Houston
I don't see why not, except that the dry ice itself should probably not be in direct contact with the cooler sides, and the drain should be open to let gas vent out. Do NOT use regular ice and dry ice together (water, plus dry ice = BOOM) http://thecoolerbox.com/pelican-coolers-dry-ice/

The specifications on the Pelican 35 Qt.White Elite Marine Cooper say 40 quart. Which is it 35 quart or 40 quart?

Asked by: Rkb
It is exactly 35 quarts - I did a lot of measurements and calculations to confirm this volume. I was surprised that the volume of this Pelican seemed the same as our Coleman 52 quart cooler only to discover that the Coleman 52 quart is actually around 38 quarts - go figure.

Why does this cost more than the larger cooler?

The 45 qt cooler is $40 less why?
Asked by: BigMike
That was not my experience - I got the 35 qt. Marine Cooler on sale.

We fill them with ice and drinks on Friday and don't have to think about ice again until we come home on Sunday. They are super tough and the rubber feet keep them from sliding around. Pay attention to how the double latch works, it may pinch fingers.

I think you could beat this thing with a bat and no damage. CONS: small inside due to thickness of insulation. Can be heavy when full.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as expected This cooler does not keep ice any better than my igloo extreme. It may be fine if it is not being opened all day, but we use it for games & tailgating so it is being opened and closed constantly. Also one of the latches broke after 6 months. And the cooler is only used twice a month. Warranty is only good for 90 days on that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dimensions not listed correctly Be advised that the dimensions listed on this item are not correct. It is not 26.4" inches tall. It is 26.4" wide. I had to take the handles off for it to fit into an existing storage compartment that I ordered it for. And when I tried to take the handles off, two of the screw heads were stripped. A call to Pelican has not been returned in regard to replacement screws.

Roto-Molded is the way to go, but Pelican is the only American Made Cooler of this stature on the market! I already own a 65 Qt. Tan Elite Marine Cooler that I've had for 3 years now and the 35 Qt. is just the right size when it's just a weekend trip in my wife's Chevrolet Traverse ! The 65 Qt. stays in the Toyota Tundra or is used around the house. The Ice holding time is right up there and out preforming the rest! Thanks Home Depot for selling a Great American Made Product !

As good, if not better than other higher priced 'name' brand coolers. Love the lock and easy pick up handles. Foot grips are great for holding in place. Much better than a standard cooler's flat and slick bottom. Be aware that the insulation and construction make it heaver than regular coolers. This will fit nicely in the front of my boat and provide fresh ice for our trips.
