Does the water and sand for the base go in the same compartment? If so how do you drain it without losing the sand? We live in a winter climate state… will the water freeze and crack the base?
Yes, the water and sand for the base go in the same compartment. When filling the base with the water-and-sand mixture, we recommend leaving a small amount of space unfilled; additionally, adding a small amount of antifreeze will effectively prevent the base from cracking due to freezing temperatures during the winter, even if the mixture is not drained. The primary function of the base is simply to anchor the umbrella, preventing it from being blown over by strong winds—which could otherwise damage the umbrella's ribs. Therefore, I recommend closing the umbrella canopy and securing it tightly with the included strap whenever strong winds arise, in order to maximize the product's lifespan. The cross member base comes with this product as seen in the video....Correct? (see attached image)......Its the weighted base that is filled with sand/water that is sold separately.

Is the umbrella stable if you fill the base only with water?
You can fill it with water or sand separately. When filled with water, the weight is about 220 pounds (about 100 kg), and when filled with sand, the weight is about 240 pounds (about 110 kg). If you need to move the umbrella and base frequently, I recommend filling the base with water so that the water can be drained quickly and moved easily. If your umbrella and base are placed in a fixed outdoor location, I recommend filling the base with sand and water at the same time so that the base has enough weight and umbrellas can be more stableto prevent the umbrella from being blown down. Warm Tips: During stormy weather, it is recommended to close the umbrella and secure it with a tie. Proper maintenance of the product can help extend its service life. The umbrella you purchased has a UV protection rating of approximately 30+. If the water in the base evaporates, be sure to add water immediately to ensure the base has sufficient weight to support the umbrella. Otherwise, it may tip over and cause danger. To minimize the risk, we recommend adding sand to the base. This will increase the overall weight and ensure the stability of the umbrella.

Is there a warranty when purchasing, and does it cover replacement parts? I just purchased in April 2025, and now in July the crank encasement is falling apart (see photo).
