Waste of money
I followed the directions to a tee. Watered twice a day or more and not a blade of grass grew. A total waste of time!
Very disappointed… Wish I could get a refund. It has been over a month now since I used this on my bare patches.

Hello! We do apologize you've had difficulties with germination. Depending on your region, planting a cool season grass like Tall Fescue in the summer is typically not recommended due to the high temperatures. Please reach out to Customer Service at 1-800-285-7333 to discuss this further!

It could be better
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Container wise, very easy to use and instructions are very clear. However, just raking and placing it on the ground showed little result and gave it way more time then 7 days. I feel this product would work a lot better either tilled in or under constant shade. The ease of it is something that I really like, but obviously easy isn't always the best option. I've had water on it every day for over 10 days and the only thing that I can get to grow from it is the weeds.

Easy to use
Grass seed in a smart package. There is a bit of material other than grass seed in this bag. The mix is designed to fix patches in the yard from whatever may have caused them.
I'm using it to fill in a few spots where we had winter material stacked outside - and a few locations where the dogs have killed the grass.
The pellet material in this mix seems to hold moisture much longer than the surface of a lawn. As long as the land you are patching is level, it should be fine. Keep it watered for a few days and green sprouts will appear - then the makings of grass and eventually a nicer lawn.

It grew grass where grass never grows...will it last?
I have an area in my backyard that hasn't had grass for several years. It is the first 20 or so feet next to my house, under a large tree, and next to my deck. The area gets almost no direct sunlight in the summer and the grass had died and been replaced by moss. This year I killed the moss, dug it out and disposed of it, tilled up the area, and then brought in 2 yard of new clean dirt. I used this dense shade mix because even before the moss I had never been able to grow enough grass to get it to hold. Typically after a few weeks I had less than 50% coverage and by 8 weeks all the grass had died again. This year I have gotten over 80% coverage after about 3 weeks and I went ahead and overseeded with another bag! I am so happy with the coverage right now as you can see in the photo. I will add the caveat that this could all end up dying, but the results so far are not only positive, but are in another league compared to my past efforts. If this grass holds all year I will be over seeding with this again in the future!

Good product for easy patching
I picked this up for some spots I have in my front yard (mostly sun) and my back yard (mostly shade). I know purists will say to buy high quality seed with no extras and then do your own amendments, mulching, and fertilizing, but I wanted a quick and easy solution for the small areas I had. This stuff has a large amount of inert ingredients (not seed) due to the water retaining and seed holding mulching, the fertilizers, and the seed coating they add, but if used properly you will get grass growth. It is pricey, but it works (mostly, more below) and is super easy.
I gave this product 4 stars and would recommend it, but I have one issue. I got grass to grow in every place I needed it except for one. In my front yard a 5" by 18" strip next to my driveway only grew a handful of blades and those have now died. Everywhere else I planted it, including a 5" by 12" spot that was on the same driveway edge and about 12" away, grew great and is now filled. The shady part in the back came in a little thinner, but has started to thicken up, and the other 3 spots in the front have done great, but I have one stubborn spot. I can't figure out the issue and it likely isn't this product, but it basically claims it will grow anywhere and that wasn't quite true for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I put it out on 2 bare spots on the 12th and watered it multiple times per day. Two weeks later the product has mostly disintegrated but there is no new grass yet.

Quick Growing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Pennington Smart Patch Bermudagrass is great for small areas that need some patching up in your yard. I have never used this type of product before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It performed better than I thought it would with our unpredictable Spring weather. Through dry 90+ degree days to heavy wind and rain, it stayed moist when I watered it and didn't wash away in the rain. This was really easy to use and came premixed with mulch, seed, and fertilizer. Sure saved me time from having to mix all these myself. I like that the container is recyclable and reusable too. The only thing I'd improve on would be to add more seed to the mix since it appears somewhat sparse even though it is definitely quick growing.

Worked but slow
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this Pennington smart patch mix from BzzAgent testing panel in exchange for my honest opinion. I had a big area under some trees that I wanted to get grass in, I put this on it and waited...and waited..and waited. After 2 weeks I could finally see the new grass growing there. The package said 7 days, but it was double that time, but it did produce new grass growth.

Super easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to fix an area of my lawn where moss had grown in. It took more work to scrape up and dispose of the moss than it did to spread and water the grass seed. This is definitely a must have in my garage. I will use it to fix other spots in my yard.
