If I could give this 1 star I would.....these aerie complete junk, stapled together. Purchased one took it home and filled it with potting soil and earth, planted my bulbs and watered them. By the next morning, the staples had pulled out and left the side almost completely detached....it's now held together by corned clamps, a nylon strap and a come along. No solution offered by Pennington. I will never buy any more of Penningtons products after my experience with this junk. Shame on Pennington, obviously their reputation means nothing to them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pennington 40" Tapered Rectangular Planter At $70 a piece these things are very poorly made. They are only put together with staples and fell apart during the first season. If I could get a refund I would.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very sturdy Purchased 3 planters , very attractive look. However after planting all 3 with the same flowers the panel on 1 immediately separated. Also for the price I would have thought they should have had some sort of protective liner so the dirt wouldn't rot the wood.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful box planter but stapled together. When I received this item it looked beautiful. It is quite long and should serve as a nice planter. I am very disappointed to discover that the wood is stapled together. I do not know if the staples are going to hold the box together with the weight of dirt and water added. I am tempted to drill pilot holes and screw in trim screws to hold it together; however, even with pilot holes it might split the thin wood. I wish the wood they used was thicker and had screws used to attach the wood elements. It might be more prudent to build your own box if you have tools and time to do so. I can see apartment dwellers buying this to sit on their balcony. I think this product fills in a need for people who are not DIYers and whose life keeps them very busy. Look at the photos to see the staples. There ya go.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product I have ever purchased If there were anyway to rate something with zero stars I would. I purchased this product wanting something different on the deck, what I didn't realize was I would be cleaning up the dirt as one corner burst open. I noticed that staples was the only thing holding the sides together. What did the vendor think they were saving? I also purchased a smaller cousin of this planter which I will also be returning. I won't spend another dime on products from this vendor and neither should you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very unhappy I bought to of these planters at $70.00 each. I planted some geraniums and the very next day the back panel pulled apart since mere staples was holding it together. I carefully removed my flowers and soil and returned it and grabbed another that seemed more sturdy. Two days later the other one is falling apart. And now the one I exchanged for is starting to bow and no doubt will be falling apart any day. What a waste. I will be returning asap and hopefully all my flowers survive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pretty but falls apart without reinforcement This is a beautiful planter and lightweight but...after seeing the first review, I made sure we reinforced the corners with a staple gun hooked to a compressor. We have 4 of them. The one we skipped because it came with more staples in it fell apart. It is sitting on a 3rd story ledge & only having used a lawn bag to line it saved it from spilling the contents down below. Didn't think to reinforce the bottoms & those have fallen out too. Don't buy this unless you can spend some time shoring up the connecting pieces. IMHO, $70 is way too much for this kind of shoddy construction.
