Since these are cordless, how does the bottom open and close? Then how would the top on and close?

Do they open like a shade where you pull down, then they spring up? If so, how does the top open? I need the top to open, because my neighbor’s side windows can see in my bedroom Windows if opened from the bottom!

You may keep the shade fully extended to block all incoming light and view from outside. 2. You can push the Top Down to where you want it, to get natural light through the top and keep the bottom total closed for privacy. 3. Rated 1 out of 5 by from We bought two of these. On both of them, the middle crossbar does not oppose its self completely ... We bought two of these. On both of them, the middle crossbar does not oppose its self completely to the top crossbar. Because the middle bar is not exactly even, the blind doesn't look good and the lower side let's light seep through. (Fortunately, I was able to rectify this by adding the magnets from the much cheaper non-blackout blinds we were replacing. The magnets make the two bars snap together and look even and also block light. BUT THEN, I add the handles that allow you to easily raise and lower the middle bar and I noticed that the handles are designed in such a way that once they are attached the handle actually blocks the upper bar and middle bar from opposing each other exactly. This allows light to seep through and makes the middle bar again not oppose the top bar evenly unless you very carefully adjusted each time you close the blind. This is a terrible, design do not buy if you care about completely blocking light or having the bars be even. The material does block light from passing through the blind. The blind was cut exactly to width.

The shade does not lift (either top down or bottom up) quite evenly, which is annoying as there is always more of a gap on one side or the other. This shade was a bit pricey for that kind of quality. Easy to install and fully light blocking as noted in the description.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The blinds were easy to install (I made a template, so I could easily install exactly the same on... The blinds were easy to install (I made a template, so I could easily install exactly the same on 4 windows), especially the fact that once you screw in the brackets, you just slide the header into place. Then you can adjust slightly side to side in case you don't like where it is. They are fully blackout, and I love to top-down/bottom up feature that allows you to see out either up or down (or both) while providing coverage/privacy for part of the window. The only thing I wish is that I could order the exact width I wanted vs. 1/2 inch increments. But I guess that's why they don't cost as much as the fully custom ones. Also, with curtains, it doesn't really make much difference. I never had cordless blinds before and was a bit leery of how well they would operate, but they work just fine. The only issue might be if you are not very tall, so you might not be able to reach the top to push it all the way up.
