can this trap be used for a tub trap

It is a 1-1/2" p-trap and can be used for tub trap but if you don't have easy access to the trap, there won't be much difference between using this trap or a conventional trap because you won't be able to clear the clog easily.

Can this item be used as a trap for a washing machine standpipe?

Will it connect to both cast pipe and abs for the height portion of the standpipe?

Sure, but only if its accessible. You must be able to visually inspect it for leaks around the knob and reach it to operate the paddle. Good for a basement laundry, very bad idea to put inside a wall where the aggressive pumping action of a washing machine could potentially rotate the paddle causing a clog.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice upgrade to the old style trap I installed this under the master bath sink which tends to get clogged with hair. I used one of those plastic strips with the hooked edges to clean out the lines before and after the trap which was much needed. The old trap had a lot of gunk blocking it. This new one was easy to install and is easy to sweep with the knob. It has been installed for about a month now and is perfectly water tight so far. I hope that keeping the trap clean with the recommended monthly sweep will help keep the flow rate up and the rest of the line clean too. My only complaint is the expensive price. Hopefully as more sell the price will come down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect p-trap. Have you ever lost a ring or earring that dropped into the drain and went right through a standard p-trap? How about kids or grandchildren who drop things into the drain that don't belong there and those items also go past the standard p-trap, causing a slow draining or clogged drain? Replace them with these! You'll be glad you did.
