Let’s ask the manufacturer again. Is there a Flange, ALL THE WAY around the perimeter, so that you can attach this Flange to 2-by’s, along the Entire Perimeter?
Asked by: Forrest
There are slots for mounting bolts at the semicircular areas around the sides. These are at each corner and for the 72" long model there are two additional ones along each long side. It is easy to mount a bar or 2x4 along each side but harder to make them go all the way around all four sides. Instead of a 2x4 I like to use the struts electricians use. You can usually find it in the electrical section with conduit.

Is there a 1-1/2 wide FLANGE on the perimeter of the top, so that you can simply use lag bolts, placed through the slots on the flange, to fasten the float to a “band” of wood around the perimeter, made from 2-by dimension lumber? Or instead is there NO flange, so that you need to put threaded metal rod or wooden inserts all the way from the top of the float to the bottom, and have wood on both the top and the bottom, secured by threaded rod or wood inserts?
Asked by: Forrest
Yes, there is a flange that is about 2" thick as I recall. I'm sure there is a flange but don't remember the exact thickness.

How much weight will this support?

When building a dock, need to know how much weight the various sizes of dock system float drums will support in the water.
Asked by: DrK
If I recall the spec said 300 pounds, I would estimate that to be correct. I used it as a replacement float for one that was missing. Angled it under the dock, put all my weight (230) on the other side and road it (and me) down...ugly but got enough under the dock to stick it, and was able to move into the right position. Note, my dock was already being held up by 8 other floats, so was only trying to firm up one corner.

Can they be hooked together and if so how? Put three together for a 72x60 surface.

They have bolt holes in each corner, I would guess a 2 63ish inch 2x4s (one on each end) 12 4 inch 5/8ths carriage bolts would probably work, not much of a deck, but would probably hold together ok. You could rope them or chain them through the holes, but would not get a stable platform.
