See I have a e scooter will this work on the bent and cracked plastic rim

Asked by Jeremiah January 24, 2021

Answer

Hello Jeremiah, thank you for your question regarding the repair of a plastic wheel rim on an e scooter. Permatex Plastic Welder has significant shear strength. However, the dynamic forces on a wheel rim under load and at speed, especially during impact with uneven surfaces, debris and curbs, would be the critical issue. Considering the safety and critical nature of this repair, we do not recommend Permatex Plastic Welder for this repair. It is likely best that you contact the e scooter manufacturer for advice. Thank you again for your question.

Yes, this product should work in that application.

will this stick to polymer?

Asked by Rex August 6, 2018

Answers

Polymer is just another word for plastic. It says it works on all plastics except polypropylene and polyethylene. Unless your part has a recycle code or is labeled to indicate what kind of plastic it is, it's hard to definitively identify the type. You could do a spot check to see if it bonds to your part (takes 24 hrs. to cure completely) and then go from there.

This is a MIRACLE product for ABS plumbing repairs! I am so very happy with the product and the repair! I found a leaking ABS Tee w/cleanout in my kitchen wall for the sink drain. I cut out a piece of drywall to expose it and the Tee was jammed between studs 6" apart, with a stud below and plywood/stucco behind that the cleanout protruded through to the outside, see picture of repair. I don't even know how I could have cut it all out to replace without major damage and reconstruction - and for $6 I didn't have to! I knew I only had one chance to get the repair right so I spent hours filing all the crusty sediment and old cracked glue off the leaking joint, then sprayed it with brake cleaner several times to make sure it was perfectly clean (wear respirator). After letting it all dry thoroughly I mixed up this stuff and spread it all over the top edge of the bottom Tee joint. (Yes, fumes are extremely strong. Yes, it doesn't come out evenly but just push harder on the slow side to even out the quantities. Yes, the cap doesn't stay on - so silly, they should fix that problem!) I let it dry overnight before running water into the kitchen drain. It's been a week now and it's completely dry, a permanent fix - I couldn't be happier with this product! So glad I found it in the automotive department!

I used this to glue a cracked blender base made of ABS. It worked great and cost 1/3 the price of a new base. Before using I would get a toothpick and poke into the black syringe nozzle since it seems to flow less easily than the clear resin. This leads to an uneven amount of both resins to be extruded. Also the cap doesn't snap fit to the nozzles; I used a rubber band to hold it in place for the next usage. The end product is black, so if you're repairing something that isn't black the repair will be very noticeable. I was able to sand this easily. Overall I'm very happy with the product.

I used this to fix a leaking a coolant expansion tank on my Infiniti FX35. (old part, expensive to replace, hard to find). Mixed up good, fumes a bit strong, and dried super quick. Been driving around for about a week with it,checking it. No leaks, good quality stuff.

I bought this to repair a broke plastic auto interior piece. I read the reviews before I made my purchase. There were some people that complained about one of the tubes being completely dry and unusable. I thought I would give it a chance , it's got to be rare for something like that to happen . I ordered it for curbside pickup got it home and wouldn't you know one of the tubes were completely dried up. I returned it and bought an actual plastic welder from Harbor Freight Tools that did the job.
