Answer This Question

A:  The ball is secured to the rod. The round metal piece next to the ball is threaded on the inside and screws onto the faucet drain. the ball actually keeps the water from exiting the connection. It all works just fine CrazyLady!!

by|Jan 4, 2020

A:  No, the rod won't slip even if the end is not threaded.

by|Dec 29, 2019

A:  the ball is molded on to the rod which goes into the hole on the stopper and the nut screws on to the drain pipe to hold it in place.

The Phister item offered online fit when the generic in-store item offered did not.
This item was not offered in Home Depot so I had to order it on their website & wait for it to be delivered. The Phister 941-652 6 inch ball assembly was the correct size to replace the ball assembly that rusted and snapped off. The only item in the store had a longer ball assembly rod that did not fit in the area under the sink & I didn't want to cut it with a hacksaw.

Unfortunately, the ball was not the correct size and the packaging had no dimensions on it. and had to return it. It seems no one has the correct size ball and I had to buy the kit with adaptors. Now, this stupidly crafted review will not take my 2-letter name and I have to redo the entire thing.

    My bad!
I was unaware of the fact that if you order a shorter rod, the ball is also smaller. It did not work and I returned it.

Assembly Does not Fit my Pfister Pop-up drain
This assembly does not fit. I was able to return it to the store and get a refund and then bought an after market product which fit perfectly.

A metal ball-and-rod assembly is far superior to the plastic type sold at Home Depot. This assembly fits my sink and works as expected.

This rod assembly does not fit at all on the Pfister tailpiece that I have. The ball is too small for the tailpiece socket, and the nut is too small and cannot be screwed on to the tailpiece fitting. I wound up buying a generic ball rod kit and combined it with some of the parts from the old ball rod. That fix is not perfect, but it works adequately.
