Questions & Answers

top fill soap dispenser? how does it fill?

Asked by: m428
It is an annoying bottle you have to fill and screw into the dispenser underneath the counter. So if you mind having to reach and go into your cabinet under your sink I would not recommend using it. If you do not mind then it will work great for you.

Overall the metal is a nice color and the water turns on and off. The weight is too heavy for the hand wand. It's like you have to pull too hard to get the wand out. But then the weight doesn't seem to be heavy enough to pull the hand wand back into a "docked" position. The water valve actuator moves too much for temperature control. If you install this within 3-4" of the wall behind it the actuator handle will hit the wall. The soap dispenser kind of works, if you don't use it several times a day the soap all drains back into the reservoir so you have to prime it again by pumping it 15-20 times. Now for the major issue: the hand wand started leaking after 2 years of owning this faucet. There is a ball join on the end of the mesh-encased tube that is supposed to give the hand wand some slight move-ability and not make the whole hand wand system too stiff. The problem is where this ball joint on the end of the tube connects to the hand wand itself, is a plastic fitting. So now that it has cracked, it leaks everywhere when the water is on. I have contacted Pfister about a replacement part and if this is still under warranty. Since their warranty states 10years, it is lame that this has only lasted 2 years.

The pull-down hand sprayer has the switch button on the rear so it is easy to use even with hands weakened from arthritis. It is also the perfect size so there is no cramping when using it over and over again. The soap dispenser is a nice addition and very useful since it reduces clutter on the counter. It dispenses soap easily and the right amount each time. I (almost) enjoy washing dishes in the sink now. Lol! No, seriously, it is a joy to have enough space to fill large pots of water or to wash them after use. In the months I've had it I haven't discovered anything negative about my Pfister 'Pasadena' faucet. I only wished I had bought it sooner.

The issue is you need almost 4 inches to the backsplash for the handle to have full movement. The manufacturer's website had many questions concerning this. All of the answers were somewhat condescending, providing a link to the specs showing the clearance needed. Not useful once installed and I don't recall that spec on the box. A more useful response would be the offer of a shorter handle or directions to mount the handle in a way that hot is straight up and cold is straight forward. I get plenty of hot water even with the handle hitting the backsplash, but I am planning to do something to get full range of the handle. It would be nice if the manufacturer was helpful instead of essentially saying "we told you it wouldn't fit".

I had to install it with the handle in front instead of to the right because of interference from the breakfast bar right behind the sink. In that orientation I had to cross-plumb the inlet hoses (hot to cold and cold to hot) so that the control function would be logical (hot to left).

Be sure to use plenty of caulk to hold the plate firmly down. The supply lines are plenty long and completely plastic so long term durability could be an issue. The fittings are for 3/8" so I had to purchase reducing adapters to fit 1/2" valves.

Her old (18+ yrs) faucet had no pressure and was not very tall. The sprayer was next to useless as well. This was so very easy to install and the soap dispenser helped to free up her limited counter space. She fell in love with it immediately. The 4 star rating is only because the sprayer does not always fully retract, say one out of every six or seven uses. Be sure to look at the water supply shut off valves closely. I had to make a return trip for two SharkBite valves because the hot water started leaking right after turning the water back on and since I was already under there I just changed both.

First problem, the spray setting only works with faucet fully on. Turn down water volume and the spray goes off. So with spray it ends up splashing everywhere. Second problem, the faucet now leaks from the water control handle. Faucet is less than a year old.
