What size spline should I use for this screen in a screen tight porch screenig stystem base strip?

Answer

.175 normally is used with fiberglass screen however with Ultravue being a smaller diameter yarn screening you may try one size larger if .175 does not secure screening in the channel.

What is the screen material?

This screen is made from fiberglass.

Very transparent and good quality. No visible flaws. Stretched tight as a drum when used with the screen-tite frame system. It's a little fussy to install with a spline roller that has a plastic wheel, the plastic wheels tend to have sharp edges that can tear the screen as you're rolling it in. I'd recommend a spline roller that has a wood handle, steel wheel, and good ratings. If you are doing a large section of screen, use 2" wide masking tape to hold the screen in place before installing your spline.

Home Depot was great - this screen wasn’t right for our application. It felt more like a fine sheer silk for sewing and was apparently made for spline-only screen applications — not suitable for a staple-in-place screen porch. Every staple ripped holes in it. Had to return it and get Better View, which worked well.

The entire roll was defective. I had 9 hours of install time (slightly more than half done) installing the screen using spline system. The black screen had white horizontal stripes every 6”. Did not see this until the sun was shining through the screen. I called Home Depot to report the issue. What a joke! On hold (in the queue) for two hours. Ended up calling Phifer directly. Sent photos. They are sending replacement material. Delayed completion of project by 3 weeks.

Exactly what I wanted, went on nice and easy. It's not the strongest if you have pets or kids, but the viewability is great. I wrapped my whole porch, the lake view lost nothing.

Extremely good visibility. It's almost gauzy. It's kind of fragile though, so use it with metal screen borders or use a lot of staples to secure it. The view is amazing.

The bees and flies were what I mainly wanted to keep out. There were no existing screens so I decided to buy the roll and staple it to the outside to solve this problem. I have been very impressed with the the fact that you can't tell there is a screen on when you look from a short distance, you actually have to walk up to the window to realize there is a mesh on it. Keeps my beautiful views unobstructed. Air flow is good. It also has kept all the flies and bees out so it has done it's job. Was easy to cut and didn't fray or tear. I would recommend.
