This is a conventional fluorescent bulb.
Has to return
Hello, Bodie, In reference to your inquiry, "Is this light appropriate for a fish tank?" As long as the fittings are compatible with the light assembly, you should have no problems with it. As with all light fixtures, make sure the light assembly is securely mounted to the tank and avoids moisture. Good luck with your endeavor and if we can be of help in the future you can contact us at The Home Depot.
Hey Jack - Thanks for the question. Looking up that GE product and it requires an F15T8 fluorescent tube. We offer three options for this lamp type: a Bright White (3000K), a Cool white (4100k) and a Daylight Deluxe (6500K). If you are looking for coolest/bluest light I would definitely recommend the daylight deluxe option. This can be found at www.homedepot.com/p/308390815

The Philips 15-Watt 18 in. Linear T8 Fluorescent Tube Light Bulb Cool White (4100K) works great it gives me a lot of good light over my commputer at night when I'm up and can't sleep.
This bulb is the proper replacement. This is an F15T8 bulb that is a soft white or 3000K color temp. KB refers to "kitchen and bath" which generally have a soft white color temperature as well.
These lamps require a ballast to operate the lamps. If the ballast supports an input voltage of 12v and is designed to operate these types of lamps there should not be an issue.

KB stands for Kitchen/Bath. It is less bright than the Cool White (CW), has a lower color temperature and lumen count (I cheated - I looked it up). I just replaced an F15T8-KB with an F15T8-CW for a light over the kitchen sink and am happy with it. It is somewhat brighter, but might be a bit glaring for some, especially if you prefer or need a lower light intensity.
