I purchased the GE version of this bulb to replace a burned out Philips one in my bathroom, but the light is a lot more yellow and I don't like it. Does this Philips bulb have a bright white cast of light?
Asked by: JMC4
I recently purchased from Home Depot 2 Philips 250 W 120 V Reflector Infrared (incandescent) bulbs for our ceiling heat lamp. They are bright white, no yellow and keep the room toasty when getting out of the shower. I would recommend them for replacements.

Is this bulb "near infrared" and if so, how is it clear and your other infrared bulb red? In other words, what's the difference in the two bulbs?
Asked by: Petalboy1966
I'm looking for some heat coming out of the shower in my new master bath. I have 2 - 250w bulbs in my bath now that feel good only when standing directly under them. Red bulbs make everything red. White bulbs make it natural color but too bright. If I switch to FIR black turtle bulbs to eliminate the bright light and red color they are heavy, have no reflector, take too long to warm up, and would overheat the Broan fixture. I'm thinking to get the heat I want maybe 6 or 8 250w bulbs may be too bright. Therefore maybe the answer is a 1500w hot wire in a box with a fan blowing air into the shower; Panasonic FV-11VHL2 WhisperWarm Ceiling Mounted Vent Fan/Heater/Light? Unfortunately I would need to heat the air to feel warm compared to instant radiant heat from the heat lamps. Since Panasonic says don't put the heater fan in the shower I need a enclosed booth in front of the shower or heat the whole 300ft2 bathroom.

Can the 250 watt heat lamp bulb be placed in a recessed Capri Lighting fixture?

Capri Lighting fixture is P/N 379995-21
Asked by: Charles
I don't think so, a heat lamp gets really hot and has to much watts for that. You need to use a lamp that the heat lamp, requires that can hold the amount of 250 watts. Go to Home Depot and get the proper fixture they only cost $13.98. That's what I do and they last a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of light and some heat as well We replaced our RED heat lamp years ago with this type because of its MUCH better lighting COLOR and BRIGHTNESS but ... it doesn't put out the HEAT the RED one did. Sadly, most dealers sell both with NO concern to help the buyer know the heat output, be it BTUs or else in order the weigh the pros/cons prior to the sale. I also notice no displays where shoppers can hold their hands up to both lamps ON to compare .... odd when thinking warm weather brings out many displays of fans that blow shoppers away. Does ANYONE have a link to a heat output comparison?
