Product Overview

The more you dim, the warmer the light with the Philips A19 Dimmable LED Light Bulb, featuring warm glow dimmable light technology. This bulb offers a new experience for dimmable LEDs by creating a soft, diffused light and smooth dimming from 2700K to 2200K. As the light is dimmed, the color temperature of the bulb is reduced to create a warm and relaxing ambiance, a dimming effect that was previously available only in dimmable halogen and incandescent lamps. This ENERGY STAR certified bulb is the perfect alternative for household applications where ambience is as important as lowering energy bills and reducing the hassle of frequently replacing light bulbs.

The perfect replacement for an incandescent bulb.
This low wattage LED light bulb was the perfect replacement for my table lamp with a 40 watt incandescent light bulb. The light output was warm and was equivalent to the power output of the bulb it replaced minus the power consumption. If all your home's incandescent bulbs are replaced with this LED brand, expect quite a significant reduction in your energy bill.

Cool Bulb
I have to say, after dropping this bulb on a table top, that it is well made from durable materials. It still worked after dropping it. I know from experience that todays incandescent bulbs would not function after having been dropped in this manner. A comparison of this Phillips LED bulb and a standard incandescent bulb is shown in Photo # 1. The LED bulb is the same size and produces the same color light as the old incandescent bulb. The difference, as shown in the photo, is in the heat produced by the bulb and the energy consumed by the bulb. The LED uses approximately 16% of the energy used by the incandescent bulb to produce the same amount of light.

I've tried a few different LED bulbs on a dimmer, and these are the best I've found. They are almost completely silent (no hum/buzz) on an LED-specific dimmer switch. They come on immediately, even on the lowest dimmer setting, and dim evenly throughout the range of the dimmer. Home Depot's EcoSmart brand buzzed like crazy and would not dim down nearly as much as the Philips. If you are looking for a dimmable LED, this is the one to get. (The 40W equivalent is especially nice in my bathroom fixture which uses three bulbs. 60W is overkill.)

This bulb is rather expensive but it is estimated to last for approximately 20 years. It gives off a soft white glow, so it is perfect for night stand lamps. It provides just enough light to see around the lamp without illuminating the whole room. It is meant to be used in a dimmable fixture. I currently have it in my night stand lamp which does not dim so I can't comment on its dimming ability.

packaging states these bulbs last for many years. 2 of the 6 we installed last year have already burned out. also they are not as " hum-free" as advertized.

Good bulb
This bulb is pretty good. I bought it for a fan fixture with a dimmer. The color shift when dimmed is pretty convincing. It does have a buzz when dimmed but it is pretty quiet. The traditional bulb appearance is also nice. They don't dim quite as low as the incandescents they replaced, but no LED bulb does. Light quality is also good. Overall, it's a good bulb for anyone looking to replace an incandescent bulb with an LED that has similar light and dimming quality.

    Soft Light
I used my Philips 40W Equivalent Soft White bulb in one of my bedroom light fixtures. The cold, hard fluorescent and LED lights really bother me so I am happy to say that this light bulb delivers on its promise of a softer, warmer glow. I also appreciate the design. Those twisty-tubed CFL bulbs are ugly to see in a socket, but the "old fashioned" design of the Philips bulb echoes the traditional smooth round bulb shape. Overall, I am pleased with both the shape and the glow of this bulb.
