What is the difference Between soft white and soft white with warm glow bulbs? Can I use a dimmable bulb if I don't have a dimmer switch?

AnswersThey won't dimm if your switch is not dimmable. You mean difference between soft white and daylight? soft white is a warm yellow light, and daylight is a white an bright.

Good size for 6" cans, good amount of light for living room, and nice dimming features!
I bought these lights and thought they might have been too big for the 6" cans but they fit perfect. Being LED, they don't get hot at all.
We placed them in our living room above the TV to cut down on glare from the windows. The nicest feature of these bulbs is the change in lumens when it's at its lowest setting. It has a nice warm glow that's great for night time TV/movie watching!

We are very happy with these bulbs. Excellent replication of the warmth of an incandescent bulb. We are using these to replace our incandescent BR-40's as they burn out. Home Depot quality severely lacking on our online order, however. The packaging on 2 of the 4 bulbs had been ripped open and just stuffed in the carton. Clearly, these 2 bulbs had been opened and returned by a previous customer. The bulbs worked when installed, but we won't know whether these bulbs will last their expected life. I will be very unhappy if they burn out in say 6 months. I appreciate HD's generous return policy, but when I place an online order, I expect to receive the product in its original packaging.

Looks great! But get the right dimmer.
This replaced both the bulb and the bulb cover in my ceiling fixture. Looks great and gives excellent light and dimming function. Do the research on the Philips website and be sure you get a compatible dimmer. My first choice switch was incompatible, but the Leviton SureSlide 6674 is compatible.

Replaced BR30s with these and Love it
I've replaced at least 80% of the lights in our home with LEDs. Although the kitchen is one of the most active areas, I took my time switching to LEDs because I was looking for the right dimmer switch. With that now out of the way, I was set to buy some BR30 LED bulbs when I stumbled across these.
Our kitchen has four can lights. The builder placed incandescent BR30s in the cans and I've been used the same ever since. The BR30s sit far into the can fixture but barely provide sufficient lighting. I only purchased one of these at first because I was unsure how it would look due to the significant size difference.
This BR40 is a perfect fit. The curved top of the bulb protrudes just slightly below the can. This gives the light a farther reach. It is also a little brighter than the 65 watt incandescent bulbs I've been using. They dim quite well but not to the level of incandescent bulbs of course. I used the Lutron app and Caseta dimmer to dim the lights down to 1%. The BR40 LED was significantly brighter than the BR30 incandescent, but I never dim my lights that low anyway.
These larger bulbs may not work for everyone but they turned out to be an excellent choice for my needs. As always, LEDs will cost you more but they will save you on your monthly electric bill, put out far less heat, last a super long time, and might even provide greater light than the incandescent bulbs they replace.
