How close to the plant does this bulb need to be to work?

I have mine positioned 3-4 feet away from my plants. Be careful, leaving it too close and for too long of time may require extra watering for your plants as it does emit some heat like a typical light bulb. I have mine set on a timer to go on every few hours in the evenings. I use the Defiant Outlet Timer.

My plants have been perking up over the early winter months with this light. Because this light does emit heat, I have it set on a timer to go in 1 hour intervals in the evenings using an Defiant Outlet Timer. I read the reviews and saw that this light can really cook or dry out the plants. I have notice that my plants don't get too warm having the light turn on/off as needed. I also have my light about 3-4 feet from my plants. I was afraid that the light would emit noticeably blue light, but actually I feel its like a soft bright white. It's actually quite soothing.

For being just a standard grow light that doesn’t emphasize on the red growth spectrum, this light is actually producing significant growth in my chaetomorpha macro-algae which tells me that it does what it is supposed to.
