Questions & Answers

Is it possible to add unlit cable between extensions?

Asked by Laura February 12, 2021

You should be able to, just find some plastic clip connectors with the right size / number of connections- may need to do a little homework if that's not displayed in the listing here. I did this for my kitchen with another brand, but looking to swap out for these lights instead. I ran it under cabinets, up over the microwave I have wire concealed, back down under more cabinets, through the wall into pantry up around door trip and back out to other side for more cabinets. It turned out amazing and I only spent about 30 dollars for everything including the lights.

Hi John - we do not have a connector cord available. Your options would either be to route the light strip behind the fridge or use a second light strip for cabinets on the other side of the fridge.

Great way to add some cool color accents to your room!
This light strip is wonderful to add different light patterns to your room. It is controllablel by an app or different smart home applications so you can control the lights from anywhere on your phone!! The starter kit includes a strip and power adapter and the strip comes with an adhesive on the back so it takes you a few seconds to stick on the strip and you are ready to go!! The strip is also flexible so you can stick the strick to any flat surface. The possibilites are endless on what you can do with this light strip
by Shirley
So many ways you can use this light strip!!!
You can get super creative with this light strip and get a lot of different and cool lighting options out of it. I built a sound studio and wanted to put lights behind sound panels I installed. Very easy to set up and control using the app

These Philips Full Color LED Strip lights work with the WiZ app. I have some other Philips light that also use that app and I have been quite satisfied with it. It integrates with Google Home so I can use voice commands from my phone by saying things like "OK Google, set LED Strip to 100% red" and the light will turn on red at full brightness. I mainly use the circadian rhythm setting that automatically adjusts the warmth or coolness as well as the brightness of the light throughout the day. The light can be changed from warm to cool (temperature in Kelvin), any RGB color and there are dynamic programs that change colors and intensity to simulate things like light from a candle or holiday themes. The app has a ton of other options as well that make it integrate with other Google Home or Alexa enabled devices. The LED Strip itself looks and feels very high quality to other led strip lights I've used. The quality of light appears a little better too as it seems a little more diffuse and less harsh to the eye. The strip can be cut roughly every 5" where there are 6 copper pads where connectors can be added. There's a thick clear cover over the entire strip which will need to be removed around the copper pads before adding conectors. These work best as part of a smart home system. There's a push button on the control box but it's very limited. Pushing the button will turn the light on when it's off but to turn the lights off you have to push the button 4 times, cycling through different modes.

This review is for the Philips 2 m Color and Turnable White Light Strip, Dimmable Smart Wi-Fi Wiz Connected (1-Pack), Clear. This light strip is quite easy to install and setup. All you have to do is download the WIZ app, install the LED light strip in the location you want it using the adhesive backing strip that is on the light, Pair the LED light strip with the WIZ app and connect to your Wi-Fi network and your all set to go. The WIZ app allows you to change the color of the strip throughout the whole color spectrum with the use of a slider bar. Or the app offers preset themes that you can use, a few of the examples are: Fireplace, Christmas, Halloween, Ocean, Spring, TV and many more pre-set themes. Through the WIZ app the Light Strip can be integrated with several voice assist devices such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, SIRI, Smart Things, Alice and many more. Through the WIZ app or your voice assistant the lights can be turned on or off, dimmed or the themes can be changed. I really like the fact that you can create custom colors with the WIZ app slider bar. I also like that you can select how bright you want the lights or you can dim the lights. The lights also can be used as a night light.

We’re a big fan of Wiz lighting with this now being our eighth fixture in our home. But this is the first light strip that we’ve tried and it’s just what we wanted for our kitchen. Even though it has every color in the rainbow and moving combinations as options, we settled on “Daylight” white for a soft glow between the tops of the cabinets and the ceiling. To install it, I had to drill a couple of holes so that I could drop the power line through the cabinet to an outlet. But after that, all I had to do was lay the strip on top next to the wall. I already had the app on my phone and iPad, so I set up the new light in just a few minutes. I made use of the “Schedule” feature to have the strip come on every day at 6:00pm and turn off after four hours. I also chose to have it dimmed to 40%. We enjoy the automation and customized look of all our Wiz lights and this new addition fits right in.

How cool lighting is with smartphone technology. This little strip has a wealth of easy to use features. Lots of preset lighting options, all with individual brightness controls. Some have a multi light pattern which also allows you to adjust the speed at which the light changes color. Includes a full color wheel to choose any color in the spectrum. Has a programmable schedule for auto start & stop times throughout the day. Everything is controlled thru your phone or tablet. The light itself has a button to change color modes but missed by not adding an on/off switch to the cord. You’ll need to download “Wiz connected” not “Wiz Lighting” as stated in instructions to operate.

Easy to implement and works great! I have a Phillips light strip and this is a great addition to my home lighting collection. I installed it following the installation procedures, and I hooked it into my Alexa system easily. Now with a simple command of “Alexa turn on bedroom light” or “Alexa bedroom light 50%” or, “Alexa, bedroom light (color name here)’ I have also set up routines on Alexa to turn on and off when I’m away.

Interesting light strip and quite versatile being that you can install it just about anywhere, provided an outlet is nearby. This Philips 6.5 ft LED light strip needs better instructions though. The box says you can easily control with voice or app but how can you do that when you don’t have adequate instructions to set it up? You’re supposed to use the Wiz app, which I do have and am familiar with, but this type of light is not an available choice when you try to set it up in the Wiz app. I will try contacting the company for assistance with set up. As far as the function of this strip, make sure to plug it in properly. I initially thought it wasn’t working after trying numerous times to turn it on. I finally flipped the pin style plug to the other side and it turned right on. Odd that it will let you plug it in either way when one way is wrong. Light turns on with the press of a button. Keep pressing it and it alternates to several different colors then turns off. Very bright lights and some colors pulse. I’m assuming you can do more in the app with colors and functions but at this point I’m unable to connect with the app due to vague instructions, which are included but not very detailed at all. Great design though. You simply peel the backing off and stick where you want, which means you can put it under cabinets, behind beds, along baseboards and in hard to light places. Not Philips Hue app compatible. Light strip can be turned on and off without the Wiz app.

Everything worked perfectly. No hub needed. Installation is very easy. Plug the light strip into the controller, plug the supplied power supply into the controller and plug it in. Then from the free WiZ app, one can get it connected to your wifi network. Getting the light paired required some repeated switching on and off of its power, so get that done before installing the plug in an inaccessible location. Once connected, one can control the lights from the app. The Wiz app has lots of predefined scenes and lighting modes and also lets you set your own custom settings. The color temperature of the white lighting is also controllable. The little controller has a button that can be used to cycle through some preset scenes, including on and off. There are two pisces of adhesive backing on the back of the controller for attaching it somewhere. Once the light strip was paired to WiZ I was able to add WiZ to my Google Home assistant and I can now also control the light strip using Google Assistant. I can ask it to set any color, brightness, turn it on and off, etc. I was not able to call up any of the predefined scenes that the WiZ app has though. Note this is not a Phillips HUE light. It does not connect to the Hue system. Control of the devices is therefore reliant on the WiZ app or WiZ API infrastructure. WiZ devices can currently also be controlled via IFTTT and Alexa. I am hoping that the Phillips quality will be better than the Geenie light strips I have to replace, because they could not handle power fluctuations. The strip and power supply can consume up to 24 Watts. You get 6½’ (2 meters) of strip. The LED strip is ½” wide. The self adhesive backing tape claims to be 3M 200MP. I can't yet tell how well it will hold up, but I expect to have to use a high quality double sided tape. The LED strips have six conductors, +12V DC, plus warm white, cool white, red, green blue control lines. The LED strip can be cut at 4.9” intervals (125mm), and can be extended to 10m (~30’) Made in China
