There is no need to worry if you left any lights on or off: simply switch them to the right setting wherever you are. Your lights can welcome your home or switch off automatically when you leave and you can even set your Hue White to come on at a preset time and turn off gradually. Hue White is dimmable and using your smartphone or tablet, you can dim your lights from the comfort of your couch or bed. There is no rewiring, electrician or installation needed. Hue White provides soft white light (2700K), is dimmable, lasts 25,000-hours and is equivalent to a standard 60-Watt incandescent, but uses just 9.5-Watt. You may have to go into Google Home and add the bulb by themselves. Make sure that you scan the bar code on the box it came in. Also make sure the bulbs work with Google.

Hue Bridge has stopped working after I unplugged it from power prior to going on vacation. I unplugged the unit because the system would randomly turn on the 2 Philips lights in our bedroom - usually in the middle of the night. The Hue Bridge, after a week of being off, would never power back up. No indicator lights, no connection to the app, nothing, not even after pressing the unit's interior reset button. The system is mostly worthless at this point.

A little tricky a first to set up and occasionally the connection to the bridge gets off a little but overall I LOVE these lights. Being able to set up the lights to come on with my alarm in the morning, connecting these to my Alexa to control and the dimming capabilities are all super nice. I also just added the hue strip lights behind my TV as well.

Great Connected LED Bulbs
The Philips Hue Lux LED Light Bulb Starter Kit is very easy to set up and has tons of uses. Getting started only requires connecting the bridge to your router, downloading the app, and deciding where to place the bulbs. The app does an easy step-by-step walk through to get you up and running. The Lux bulbs only do soft white light but with a light output of 750 lumens, the bulbs provide workable lighting rather than just accent lighting. Lux bulbs can be dimmed from the app and they can also be set for timers and alarms via the app. I placed one of the bulbs in my pantry and one in my bedroom closet. I chose these two places because I often come home to find the lights were left on. The geofencing feature in the app turns both lights off (if they were left on) when I leave for work. I also have an alarm set so my closet light comes on at 6:30 a.m. when I'm usually getting dressed for work. It then goes off 30 minutes later. These bulbs only use 9 watts (less if dimmed) They can help provide security by coming on when no one is home They can be used with IF (formerly IFTTT) which has tons of possibilities They allow dimming in places where installing a dimmer switch is not possible or desired The life span for the bulbs is 22.8 years (with 3 hours use/day) LED and connected bulbs are still a tad pricey but I feel they are well worth the money. Philips makes the best LED bulbs and this Hue Lux Starter Kit is a great buy for anyone interested in this type of technology.
