can these be split into two separate doors and made into a french door?

can these be split into two separate doors and made into a french door?
Asked by: maria
Yes! Thats exactly what we did and used these doors as French doors to our basement. Looks great! Very heavy, so they will need sturdy hinges but very well made.

Does Pinecroft offer a frosted glass in this style?

Does Pinecroft offer a frosted glass in this style?
Asked by: TN
I bought these doors with the "rain" glass panes. Looks for real in the pictures. But now that I have the doors I can clearly see it is nothing but a plastic film. If the Etched Leaf film another customer in the other answers purchased and applied is a better product then the plastic film the door manufacturer uses it may be acceptable to you. It was painfully clear when I walked up to the doors there was film on the panes. Especially because it was poorly applied complete with creases in it. I ended up going around the edge of the panes with a razor blade and peeling it off. I'd rather have clear glass than obvious film covering the glass.

Do these doors baffle sound?

Do these doors baffle sound?
Asked by: Margaret
Not as well as a solid door. If I were to say a solid material door baffles 85% of sound, I would put these doors at 65-70%. We converted two sets of these into french doors, and installed one into the master bathroom and the second set into the master closet. Painted black with satin brass hardware and they're gorgeous.

Asked by: Reese
Yes they will. I installed the same doors in my home and they great! If your finished opening is 35.5”, you will probably need to use a plane and shave off a little on the sides. Otherwise your good to go! Good luck!

The doors themselves are very pretty and are quite heavy being that they are solid wood. We purchased two for our doorway. The problem for us was the tracking system. It wasn't sturdy enough to hold the doors properly. We attempted to have them professionally installed by a licensed contractor, but mid job he said the tracking system wasn't adequate to hold the weight of the doors. We returned the doors to avoid the hassle of trying to make them work with a different system. As mentioned, the look and feel of the doors is great so I was disappointed that they didn't work out.

We were really bummed to find, after peeling off the masking plastic, that every pane was permanently etched with the ANSI Z97.1-2015 / 16 CFR 1201 CII mandated marking. You should tell people that it will be plainly evident and detract from the overall beauty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality; awesome looks I bought several sets of these doors unfinished to paint and to use as patio doors. I didn't have any of the challenges described by others (gaps in seams, etc). I did need to sand them lightly to remove wood "strings." I chose to brush paint (tedious) to get the texture I wanted (antique) and I was grateful for the plastic film over the glass panes. I removed plastic with a box cutter and didn't have any problems with a clean look. I removed the bifold hinges and hung them on regular hinges with door pulls as double doors. THEY ARE SHORTER THAN 80" if you aren't using the bifold track and hardware. For me, I simply added door sweeps to the bottom and put a couple of inches "header" in the door frame to make up the difference. I am very happy with the doors. Attached picture is of my main entrance. I am using the doors as "storm doors" at that entry point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, quality doors - we love! These are really high quality doors - even our installer commented on this! They are heavier (good!) and operate more smoothly than expected! We bought the style that are already painted and I'm so glad. We bought these doors to close a sunroom off from the living room. The sunroom is filled with light and these doors allowed the light into the living room while separating the rooms effectively. Installation was done by professionals. They had to make the door opening smaller to accommodate the doors, so there was some structural work that had to be done. I rated installation average, only because I couldn't speak personally about the difficulty. Installers seemed to have more challenges with the structural change than the door installation. Only glitch was that a doorknob was missing. That was minor, however. Home Depot offered to give me a new one free - more than accommodating. We LOVE these doors and they really add a lot of atmosphere to our living areas. They're not only beautiful but highly functional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful finished, but if you plan on painting>>> Buy a paint gun or spend xtra on the white ones Ordered 2 sets online, UPS delivered and left them unattended on my driveway, no call or notice. Thankfully, they are packaged well so all was intact and undamaged. Doors arrived already attached together w/hinges. Required light sanding, primer and 2 coats of paint. Each window pane is covered with a plastic window film which made painting easier and much appreciated. However, having to use an exacto blade to cut it and dig it out because the film is so far up under the trim was really, really annoying. Other con was some of the crossing wood trim that made up the lilttle windows didn't connect all the way, as if some pieces were cut too short... super sad and had to caulk the difference prior to priming. After HOURS and HOURS of messing with these doors the finished product is beautiful and functional. But next time, lol, i will just spend the extra to get them in white.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very pricey and very soft wood I didn't use them as bifold doors but rather as an architectural detail on either side of a large entryway from main hallway into living room, think sidelights without a door between them. They are bare wood and needed to be prepped and sanded like you would with any bare wood project. I found the wood scratches very easily, so I primed, sanded, primed, sanded, painted, sanded, painted, light sanding final top coat. So all in all there are five coats of paint, 2 primer and 3 of the final color. They look beautiful for what I used them for however the film covering the glass so painting is easier were a real bear to get off x 40! I say I would recommend this product as it is what I needed and if I could have found old used one at a salvage I would have preferred that but I couldn't. I also bought French doors for the entryway from living room into dining room and these bifolds were almost the same price as the prehung French doors. So I stand by they are a bit pricey all things considered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I need a door for the kitchen. French bifold door... I need a door for the kitchen. French bifold door adds plenty glamour to my apartment. This door is sturdy but easy to fold and unfold. I intended to paint one layer of clear gloss paint. My contractor painted it white without my consent, which turns out to be all right. I also bought another one for walk-in closet. I will put up a color bulb inside, hope it will look beautiful.
