Below is verified as being our response to use in ocean bay. Another factor to consider is the depth of the water and the size of the watercraft the dock will be used in conjunction with. If you have any additional questions please let us know. 1-888-PLAYSTAR (752-9782)

I must remove my dock in the fall because of icing. I will be using 4 10ft sections. Can the decking be removed and the sctions taken apart easily?

Asked by Vtfisher April 16, 2019

Answer

Section are easily taken apart. See our Dock Connector Clips PS 1021 (Roll In or Stationary) or Commercial Grade Hinge Kit PS 1070 (Floating). Each Aluminum Dock Frame weight less than 70 lbs. Depending on the type of decking you utilize each section should weigh less than 150 lbs. making removal of the decking unnecessary when storing in the winter. Any additional questions please let us know. 1-888-752-9782.

Are the floats hollow?

Asked by hub April 10, 2019

Answer

PlayStar Marine Dock Floats PS 1155 are not filled with any additional materials. We do not fill them so that if the float somehow would get punctured or torn open there are no additional contaminants or harmful materials to impact the environment or wildlife. Our Floats have 500 lbs of buoyancy each and will float in as little as 1 1/2" of water. Any additional questions please let us know. 1-888-PLAYSTAR (752-9782).

Answer

We do not recommend you connect 4 sections together to make a 10 ft. x 20 ft. dock. Floats are one on the final items placed on the frame when it is upside down during assembly process. It will be very very difficult to flip over a section this large without damage. We do have plans available for 8 ft. x 10 ft. sections. If you would like a copy or have any additional questions please contact us at 1-888-PLAYSTAR 9752-9782).

Fantastic !
I bought 10 (4x10) sections and assembled one by following the instructions, which were very well written. Once I knew all the steps needed, I was able to work in a assembly line fashion, finishing all in one area before moving my hardware containers (separated) to the next area. This allowed me to cut the time of frame assembly down from 1hr 15 minutes to about 1 hour per section.(on floor assembly) Installation of the resin top was straight forward. Then the tightening up of it all. Overall I would say that I averaged about 2 1/2 hours per unit. The kit is perfectly machined, everything lines up thus allowing me to assemble 10 sections, all by myself, in about 3 days. Assembled 4x10 with resin top is about 180 lbs.

The frame itself went together well, plenty of parts and good directions to follow. My beef is that the listing showed a deck with it - there is no deck - it is merely a frame. Guess i should have known that by the price but they should not show decking in the pictures.

Good quality product for a very affordable price. I was tired of heavy wooden docks, this is light, especially if you install the decking separately. Buyers must be aware that the product is shipped in a box so some assembly is required, but shouldn't take your more than 15 to 20 minutes

Well designed and made, has all the fasteners with some extra pieces to cover different configurations. Instructions very well written and complete. We used it along a shoreline with 2 pin pile pipes of 1-1/2" sch 40 pipe and it's very sturdy. The only problem I had was fastening the long joists and end brackets to the short sides. The kit provides short carriage bolts for this, with the nut located in a very difficult location to tighten. The hardware connecting the end bracket to the long joist blocked access to the nut on the carriage bolt, so I had to undo the long joists from that end bracket and hold the joist out of the way to get good access for tightening. I will be buying another kit for another location, very sturdy feel to it, easy to transport to shore on difficult terrain

I LOVE THIS KIT
I bought two of these kits and all I can say is the craftsmanship of these kits are amazing. The specs are exact (not even a fraction off). This is the only kit that I will ever use for all of my next projects.

A nice dock we put together ourselves
We bought and put together a 3-section floating dock with resin top. It took us about 2 and a half days to put it together and get it in the water. This project is not for a novice DIYer. The instructions are not always very clear and a few parts had quality issues. In addition, you have to mark and drill a bunch of holes in the aluminum to put it together--not what you expect from what appears to be a kit. The bottom line is that we have a really nice dock for about two thirds what it would have cost to have someone put one in.
