Why cant these be used with prefab units?Can this be used on a prefab if we add a �" granite face?

My fireplace has no hearth and the fire box is not at floor level. Is it required that the bottom of this unit be able to sit on top of the floor or hearth?
Hello Bron, Our fireplace glass door sets cannot hang from an elevated opening. The weight of the door must be supported from beneath, so it must rest on the bottom of the hearth. The brackets that come in the hardware pack are not made to hold the weight of the door sets; they are made to keep the doors from falling forward.
