If we are installing this product over house wrap (tar paper or Tyvek) covering the studs, should there be small air space left between the back of the siding and the face of the house wrap to provide for drainage of any possible water intrusion? Thanks
Asked by: Narto
No, its made to be put on next to the wrap. You should have some type of molding on top and I chalk the seams.

I dont know who can write a review on this product except for people who never seen good wood siding before. Yeah its price cheap, but its also far from adequate for being used as a exterior siding product. Its obvious that home depot dont give a hoot what they sell these days , the standards are way below reasonable and usable. THE MILLWORK IS AMATEUR and like a few people here have said its falling apart before its installed. Look at the joints, all the rib lines have cracks somewhere along the joint, something you can't have for exterior use. It needs to be watertight. A quality lumber yard charges about 10.00 a sheet more preprimed, and in respectable condition, and will meet the specs, when matching ,and doing repairs from old homes/buildings . Dont let these corporation keep screwing us, there ripping us off. This material is worth about 10.00 a sheet, but in my professional opinion" its worthless"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I LOVE This Stuff! I built a toolshed with this stuff 25 years ago and the sides are still sound. Admittedly, there is no ground contact, but it certainly has been rained on all those years. I also used it to put sides on a metal-frame hauling trailer 15 years ago. THAT has finally started to rot, but it's because I didn't protect the upright exposed cut edge. I will be replacing it with new T1-11 (which is why I'm here now) but adding dodoed pressure-treated 2x4s on the top edge for protection. THAT should be good for 25 years... BTW, the pressure-treated plywood I bought a few months ago for the trailer sides warped badly. T1-11 works better, far more stable.

Product is ok for general purpose use as storage building siding or nonresidential uses. Its basically a sheet of plywood with router cut channels & edge overlaps. And there in lies the problem. The channels allow for moisture to enter and cause separation of the compressed layers. Material degrades more rapidly if installed with channels running horizontally. Priming & painting several coats ( Making sure channel surfaces are sealed) will provide initial protection, but will need repainting at least every three to four years to keep water tight.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor construction Purchased 15 panels to replace old siding on house. Panels sat covered on a trailer for three days before use. After only three days panels started to de-laminate on the ends, requiring re-gluing and clamping creating delays for installation. The re-gluing/clamping was only a partial fix. The panels were a Roseberg Lumber Product. The next bunch of panels were from another Big Box store and were made by Georgia Pacific. These were of much better quality with fewer splits and repairs on the surface and back and no de-lamination. Same price at both stores.

As usual finding quality lumber at HD is time consuming as you have to move and inspect many sheets to find a good one. This was to be used as house siding not a kids play house. Too many knots, voids, warped and delaminating at the Jupiter Indiantown store. One week later and other shipment of Georgia Pacific T1-11 similar problem. Would prefer to pay more for better quality as my labor is the same.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have been working with T1 11 siding building sheds... I have been working with T1 11 siding building sheds since 1984. I have noticed recently more empty void's in the wood. That could mean problems for my customers after painting such as delaminating. All in all it is a good product but there is always room for improvement
