how long I need to wait to painting
Asked by: Santos
I would wait for at least three months because I believe it’s treated lumber. It gives it time to dry out, which allows greater penetration of the paint.

I dont know who can write a review on this product except for people who never seen good wood siding before. Yeah its price cheap, but its also far from adequate for being used as a exterior siding product. Its obvious that home depot dont give a hoot what they sell these days , the standards are way below reasonable and usable. THE MILLWORK IS AMATEUR and like a few people here have said its falling apart before its installed. Look at the joints, all the rib lines have cracks somewhere along the joint, something you can't have for exterior use. It needs to be watertight. A quality lumber yard charges about 10.00 a sheet more preprimed, and in respectable condition, and will meet the specs, when matching ,and doing repairs from old homes/buildings . Dont let these corporation keep screwing us, there ripping us off. This material is worth about 10.00 a sheet, but in my professional opinion" its worthless"

I found it to have many voids, visible from the groves, that make it very difficult to seal. You must caulk the voids before staining or painting. After it was sealed and installed, some sheets delaminated after the first rain. The ends of the sheets curled out as the delaminated. I can only imagine that this siding will have to be replaced in the next year or two.

My house is 94 years old and the siding on my garage is 4" wide between indents. An 8-foot piece actually doesn't line up with an 8-foot section of the siding. It is about 1/6" every 4" off. Disappointed as I could not find anything to match my garage siding and I was so sure this would! But we are repairing a back area that really is not visible from front and using Z-flashing between the pieces above and the area we need to cut off due to rot. Anyway, I would still recommend it as I don't think you'll find anything closer. The board itself is great! Thanks! The church I attend will be completing the project in a month.

Once installed, after the first rain it delaminated, top coat of the wood bubbled up also. A lot of cracks on the product also. Asked homedepot about the poor product performance, they said it is not for external use against what it says on the product description on the website and it has to be sealed as you put up the panel!, which i was going to do anyways, but the fact that it can't tolerate any moisture for couple of days is unacceptable, and the fact that homedepot doesn't stand behind their product is another disappointment.

Easy to work with (cutting, etc.) and has minimal blemishes. Well-made. We were going to buy this across the street at "that other Big Box Store", but a nice associate told us that Home Depot had a better quality product, for the same price. So we took our truck and our money and bought enough of these sheets to build our chicken house/garden shed as well as some other projects around our farm. And since Home Depot had sent me a Birthday Coupon, I purchased these at 10% off.....sweet!!

Most sheets had damaged edges and corners. Many sheets had an irregular surface (meaning the machine that textures the surface missed many areas). The lap joints were damaged.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from T1-11 Exterior Siding De-Lamination Recently purchased 144 sheets of both 4x8 and 4x9 19/32" 8 "O.C. Siding for replacing existing builder grade vinyl siding on a remodel. Product came in two different shipments from two different manufacturers. Surface appearance was mixed between both shipments as well as between the 4x8 and 4x9 material. Some were "rougher" than others - noted during stain application done in heated garage prior to installation; however house aesthetics is to be a rustic look, therefore overlooked the varying surface appearance between the different batches. Installation started February 29th and by April 1st first set of 4x9's started delaminating along 8" O.C. grooves. Some sheets now have multiple surface "bubbles", as well as surface delaminating. Since house siding is now fully complete as of last week, the delamination is now "creeping" along the entire east and south-facing walls of the house. Don't understand root cause other than that of a poor process quality issue at raw material supplier; however, at this point based on multiple suppliers used for product would not recommend purchasing. Odd - current primary residence (37 yrs old) does not exhibit any of the above. Very disappointed in manufacturer's product performance. Waiting to see how resolution process works as advertised warranty is "none". Entire house will have to be re-sided and re-trimmed as well as re-stained... lots of time, energy, and money in finishing product as well as installation labor lost.
