Q:I?m building a shed in upstate NEW YORK?it?s November?too cold to paint?will the T1-11 last until spring when it?s warm enough to paint ?

    Answer This Question

A:  Most paint recommends that the temperature to apply be at least 50 degrees. Yes, the T 111 will survive the winter, but it may get some water stains / greying on it over the winter. If you are looking to stain it you could apply some sheet plastic over the siding to keep the water off during the winter.

A:  It's too cold and damp nkw to paint. I'd leave it until spring. Fresh wood doesn't really hold paint that well anyway. This will be fine in the elements assuming it isn't touching the ground. A pressure wash and coat of primer will do wonders in the spring.

        Answer This Question

A:  Tomd, The grooves run vertically, the 8ft way.

        by|Nov 2, 2022

A:  Typically it runs the 8 foot way, but have seen it run the 4 foot way. It all depends on the look that you want

          by|Nov 5, 2022

A:  Yes the channel runs the 8’ way

            by|Nov 5, 2022

A:  The channel runs the 8’ length.

              by|Nov 3, 2022

A:  It is always vertically install 8ft way because of water flow.

                  5/8” T1-11 ROCKS!
I’ve use these on my home for 30 years. I just needed to replace 17 as it faces the west side and takes the blunt of the weather up here in the mountains of PA. The others are still holding really well. if I would’ve painted the house since last 14 years , I can pretty much guarantee that I would not have had replace those 17 boards. Lesson learned! I will now continue to paint my house every five or six years at least. These 5/8” T111 are awesome.

Spent over $200 on this siding. I bought wood sealer to put on this. I bought clear wood sealer because I liked the natural color of the wood. After it rained it started to bubble and come apart. What a complete waste of money very disappointed in the quality for sure. That's over $200 I'm out of now.
