Q:What are the ingredients? Will one clean 4 filters?

Answer This Question
A:Â Ingredients not provided; I'd recommend it be used outdoors away from structures; didn't seem to hurt grass in diluted state, but wear work clothes. # of applications depends somewhat on filter size and how often it is cleaned. Should get 3-4 applications per quart. Works surprisingly well. 2 applications may be required if filter is particular dirty. Recommend filter be rinsed using "Tier1 Replacement for Pool and Spa Filter Cartridge Cleaner Wand" hose attachment or similar (~$12-$13). Apply spray, wait 2-3 minutes, and rinse filter well; repeat if required.

A:Â Hi jetskierg, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. Although our formulations are proprietary, our Filter Cleaner is an acidic formulation that primarily targets scale and metal buildup in the filter. Some ingredients are listed on the product's Safety Data Sheet. As for use, the number of cartridge filters that can be cleaned depend on how much of the product is used each time, but you can expect to clean multiple cartridge filters with one bottle. When using our Filter Cleaner with a sand or D.E. filter, we recommend using the entire bottle. If you have any further questions, or would like our assistance with obtaining the product's Safety Data Sheet, please give our Technical Solutions Team a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

A: I use this on my filters and it’s great.  How much you can get out of a bottle depends on house much you use each time.  One bottle, for me, can be used on 6 filters.

Q:I cant get the suds to wash away. Will it hurt the pool water?

Answer This Question
A:Â Hi Kattie, We are the manufacturer of Pool Time products. When using the Filter Cleaner, it is important to either (for sand and most D.E. filters) backwash until the water in the sight glass runs clear or (for non-backwashable D.E. and cartridge filters) rinse the filter with a garden hose after cleaning the filter. Assuming that the pool water's pH is between 7.2 and 7.6 and the chlorine reading is between 1 and 4 parts per million, the foam is not contributing to any issues within the water, which is considered suitable for swimming. The foaming will dissipate over time and shocking can help speed up that process. If you would like to discuss this further, or if you have any other pool care related questions, please give our Technical Solutions Team a call at 1-800-252-POOL (7665). Thank you.

A:Â You sprayed this directly on the filter correct? If you cannot get the suds to go away, you did not rinse your filter well enough, eventually the water runs clear. I have been using this stuff for probably over ten years now. It is the very very best filter cleaner spray out there, in spite of the humble Homey D brand. I have tried a lot of others, none of them even come close.
But even if you cannot get the suds to go away, NO IT WILL NOT HURT YOUR POOL WATER FOR SURE. I also use it to spray and scrub the water scum line, directly on the side of the wall, directly in the pool. At worst, it may raise your PH up a bit, but I doubt it.
Keep using this product, it really really cleans out a filter very well, and it even smells good after using it.

Does an extremely good job!
I had been backwashing and cleaning my filter canister and the filter elements, but still within a few days, the pressure within the filter canister was building up and my water flow and circulation would drop. I talked to my guy at my pool supply store and he said even though the filter elements were being "cleaned", they were probably dirty on a close to molecular level; in other words, the things that were making the element dirty could not be seen by the naked human eye. The elements were also a light dingy grey in color, versus the bright white they were when purchased.
So purchased 4 of these to clean the eight filter elements. First I rinsed them out as I've done in the past and then following the directions listed, I sprayed each element, soaking them with the cleaner liquid. I could see the initially yellow colored liquid, now turning brown as it flowed from the filter elements. I then let them sit for about two hours and then rinsed them again. I could immediately see a difference in the color of the filter elements. Granted they were not as white as they were when they were new, but they were close too it; gone was the grey dingy look they had before. I also only used three of the bottles, with one left.
I then re-installed the filter elements, turned the system back on and then added the D.E. This was about a month ago, and my filter pressure is still less than 4-5 lbs of pressure and holding steady and the pool water is crystal clear! Even if you're not having problems with you filter elements, I would recommend using this cleaner on them every time you clean your filter. It will add to the life of the filter element, cut down on the amount of back flushing you will need to do, and help keep your pool water crystal clear!
