I bought this with his hopes but now after less than 12 uses it falls off all the time. I hit a rock with one of the tires and the entire tire assembly bent badly and I can see a weld the is cracked and rusted which means it happened prior. Possible defect to begin with. All in all I would not recommend getting this because trying to find warranty service is very hard. I have not found one yet. most either just sell the tractors or sell the parts but don't do warranty service. I am regretting not buying a John Deere because at least there is always a John Deere repair center close by. I will probably end up paying for the repair out of pocket due to no service centers in my area. With the tow back and forth, parts and service it will be at least $600-$700.

I also like the fact that you sit fairly high up compared to my old Craftsman which is great since you can see everything easier. It cuts really smooth and has a fairly tight turn radius. I also like the accelerator pedal which gives me more control on how fast I can mow, I don't think I have ever mowed my yard as fast in the past and gotten such good results. The only complaints I have is I wish the seat would go back further then it does because its a little tight between the seat and the steering wheel. The other complaint is I wish the lever that raises and lowers the deck is on the left side and it makes it hard to get in the seat on the left side without the shifter sticking me in the rear. The right side is awkward because the plastic discharge chute is there so you have to go over the shifter on the left side and I wish they had put the shifter on the right. Overall its still a really good Lawn tractor and would recommend it to everyone.

The bearings came apart: one last year that let the blades hit together braking one blade in half and it went flying. I noticed the same vibration this year and stopped the mower before repeat damage. Cutting grass again, smoke stared pouring from the left side of the engine. The fuel solenoid burned up. Cannot replace solenoid, must replace entire carburetor. Latest issue is the plastic transmission. Noticed grease coming out by the wheel, seal is displaced and can be pushed back in with finger. I've had to put a hose clamp around it to keep in place. I really expected more use before having any issues. I am very disappointed in this mower!

This is advertised on Home Depot website as a 42in 22 HP briggs, not a 19 HP. It doesn't have the nice detailed trim you see here in the pic, it doesn't have the features near the cup holder that you can put extra things into. The gas peddle is to high that it hurts your foot to rest it on the deck and press the gas if your foot is a size 10 shoe or less. That means you have to rest your foot on the accelerator and every bump you hit will alter your speed. The seat is adjustable, but not all the way back due to a bad designed wing nut location. The gas tank is located near a hot engine, smh ,,, The engine bogs down easily with going through lush thick grass over 8 inches tall. The front is very flimsy and if you go over any bumpy areas the light attachment will unplug and you will lose one or both lights. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't purchase this item. It's okay if your yard is a very smooth, and very small and very limited size. Other than that,,, don't bother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 mows in so far so good Product is exactly what was expected. I did a ton of research and came to this mower for the money. Everything else under 2-3k seemed to have the hydro k-46 tranny which seams to be pretty notorious for issues. I did a ton or research and found this CVT tranny on mowers is up and coming with grear reviews. It rides great and has more power than I thought it would. Mows great, only issue was the floating deck when turning to fast cut low on the outside, but slowing down on turns eliminated that issue. This is not uncommon on other mowers I've seen so I wont hold that against the brand. There are other mowers with a better seat and other features but for the price this was a heck of a deal and so far I have zero complaints. Also I threw the mulch kit on right away and installation was very easy. I have an hour meter coming and plan to change the oil at 5 hours as reccommended, which looks to be very easy also.

Compared to my other mower, this mower really saves me time. 16 degree turning radius is tight. I wanted an automatic transmission so I could reverse easier when I reached the end of a cut. I found out with the tight turning radius I didn't need reverse! Bonus! However, when reverse is needed I love just pressing the reverse pedal. No clutch to push in, no gear selector to change from forward to reverse and then back again. such a time saver. It sits taller. I had to get used to the position. Getting in is a little tougher because the seat distance from the console area is tighter. The forward pedal is also a bit high in the up position. The motor is smooth and powerful. The transmission moves it pretty fast. Much faster than my old tractor. Cut is even. This is a nice tractor. It pulls hills really well.

Very hard to start and nearly impossible to get it to move forward or reverse. In spite of using stabilizer in the ethanol gas the carburetor had to be replaced after the first year. I switched to non-ethanol gas and that problem seems to be resolved. More money. After the first mowing session this year the right rear axle seal blew out. Fast forward to Monday July 22, 2019 when after cutting the lawn I washed and dried the mower. On start up it began to smoke badly. Apparently one of the belts wasn't moving on a pulley. Shut it down and examined the belts but didn't see anything obvious. Started it back up, no smoke. Released the brake and the brake pedal began to pulse rhythmically and with each pulse there was a loud clacking sound. Put in in the shed and will be taking it to the shop AGAIN. Do NOT buy this ting has been JUNK from the get go!

I bought this riding mower in April of 2016 and it has been nothing but a problem since day1. It has a transmission issue that they just can’t seem to correct. It doesn’t like going in reverse and when it is finally in reverse then it doesn’t want to go forward. It is currently in the repair shop for the FIFTH time. Always the same issue. Last year a new transmission was installed and here we are in May and the problem is back. Front and center. Supposedly they have repair kits that need to be installed and should have been installed when they changed out the transmission. An oversight I am being told. They should have replaced the mower on the third trip to the repair shop but Home Depot and Poulenc /Husk just want to keep repairing it. Thankfully have the extended warranty so they can keep picking it up and I can mow my 1/4 acre lot with my old Toro walk behind

I had to add wheels to the deck it was scalping the lawn because it had no wheels on the deck($60). It cuts grass nicely at high speed but it has a strap from the frame to the transmission/axle which is made of soft metal. The threads strip out and the axle shots forward and it pops the aluminum gear linkage. It cost 30 or 40 dollars to replace it and you don't realize the cause. You will keep breaking the linkage at 40 dollars a pop until you realize the real problem. I have been thinking of trading it off for a 1995 model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total Dump I bought this last season and maintained it as per the manual. Yesterday almost a year to the date of purchase, the head gasket blew. The first season all of the tires started getting low and no matter how many times I filled with air, it would happen again. I finally filled them with a product from John Deere that fills the tire with glue and you don't get flats. I then mowed a vacant lot, it was kind of rough but not that bad, and one of my wheels bent outwards.....cheap. All I can say about this tractor is I wish I had bought anything but Poulon......anything

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad transmission I bought this mower October of 2018. Did fine the first few mows and out up for winter. Spring rolls around and I do the normal maintenance, oil change, sharpen blades, clean air filter. Notice forward and reverse getting tricky to switch between. Do a thorough cleaning of all externals and no change. It gets worse so I contact poulan pro about warranty work. I'm referred to the only local shop and now 2 months later I'm still waiting to get in. I can only drive forward now. I am mechanically inclined but I guess you need special training to do a simple job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good entry level mower Limited review as I have only used the mower twice. I had another brand for 17 years prior to this one and find that this rides higher and as a result feels as if it will tip on inclines. Additionally, the seat is slippery so as you drive on hills you can easily slide increasing the feeling the mower will tip. Have to be careful how hills are navigated. when driving down and then up a hill the frame appears to flex making me question if the quality will list an the 17 years as my prior mower did. The cut is good and has plenty of power. I prefer the mulching blade but have not purchased yet. cutting while turning for another pass will sometime give uneven grass - it depends a lot upon the speed. Cutting in reverse is possible but the safety features are a pain. Delivery: Mower came pre installed and uncrated as a result some minor scratches appeared on the mower. The biggest damage on delivery was with steering wheel where there were gashes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a good mower I bought this mower from the store in Joplin MO and have used it several times. I have a 7 acre property and I keep about an acre and a half of it mowed regularly. I really like the Briggs engine, plenty of power, and I like the automatic trans. You can set the throttle for blade speed and the pedal allows you to creep or run ahead at 5mph! Now keep in mind this is not a fancy mower, there is no cruise control or fancy anything.. It cuts grass and weeds, that's what it does. I have had no problems with it, I changed the height on the scalp wheels and I leveled the deck a bit for my needs other than that I have been able to just jump on and turn the key. I like the mow in reverse feature but it creeps in reverse which is OK. I DO wish it had an hour meter to keep track of maintenance times and I wish it came with a deck washout... But I just chain it to my hoist and hang it up at an extreme angle and hit it with the hose... Doesn't hurt it. If you need a cheap reliable mower for less than 1500 bucks this is a good one. Of course not everyone has the same experience but mine has been pretty good. I like the black too...

My father owns a John Deere and couldn't believe how alike they both are in power, configuration, and styling. the price point was great for what i got. (blade size, engine power, auto trans, etc) Pros - powerful, fast, provided blades are great at mulching (had to buy mulcher plate separate) Cons - packaging was intense to remove. glad they protect it but i spent 45 minutes performing surgery to set my mower free! wish - i wish it would have come with a mulcher plate (simple piece of plastic) - had to buy separate. Husqvarna should also revamp the website for Poulan PRO in order to show off the accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Lawn Mower for the Price I Been looking for a Good lawn mower to replace my old 17.5 horsepower Pony lawn mower I did a lot of home work and found this to to be the best I pick up at the Store on June 15 2016 every one at the was very kind it was all put together and use it as soon I got home I hook up the wanton and haul all of my horse feed to the Barn and it did not even know that there as a wagon behind it pull it just fine and even went around the pasture with my Manure speader pick up all of the horse manure in the pasture and haul it away and it pull it just fine with the 19 horsepower engine it pull smoother then my 17.5 horsepower engine did on my old tractor even did and then I went on to mow my pasture and I had no problems going up or down hill or uneven grounds it was fun to drive love how it handle and I love having the bigger engine if any one has a small farm or 3 plus acres I would highly recommend this Lawn mower Sign Brian Moser

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Several Issues I have been disappointed with my Poulan Pro since I purchased it. I have to double mow to get the ridge's that are left in the yard. I've had transmission problems where it won't go in reverse and now forward is not working. I've never been so frustrated with the mower and will never purchase a Poulan Pro again!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but things I don’t like When I bought it worked awesome and still does but things I don’t like about it there is a plug for the hour meter behind the gas tank and a place to put the hour meter it should be on there when you buy it there is rear deck wheel mounts for the bracket it should come with the mower already installed

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Poulan Pro is terrible This Poulan Pro should never have left the factory with the faulty design and workmanship. This Poulan Pro will not shift. It has had the transmission replaced 3 months ago and it is doing the same thing. The linkage is the worst. I wish we would have never purchased it. A waste of money.

I had to readjust the cutting deck, the front was lower and the back was higher than what the manual called for. This is my first lawn tractor and it seems to be performing well.

I purchased this poulan pro PP19A42 June 2016 when I got it home it wouldn't go into gear so they send a store person to my home and couldn't fix it. they replaced it with a new one. I live in Massachusetts so its used from April to October. I have taken well care of it. After 2 years 4 months old the Briggs and Stratton Engine starting blowing Blue Smoke I called Home Depot they didn't even care they gave me a name of a repair store they use when I called them they only repair John Deer. I called Home Depot Corporate they didn't care. called Poulan they were no help at all told me to call Briggs and Stratton same think no help out of warranty. Yes 4 months over warranty all 3 could care less about the problem. If you want a throw away lawn mower this is the one. Could go to a real lawn mower store and purchase one that is made to last. this is low end junk made for Home Depot.

Just got it home after calling ahead and confirming it was still available. They only had the display model, but it was put together properly and I had a service agent help load it into my truck. Got it home, unloaded it, and short of connecting the battery terminals and filling up the gas, it fired up instantly. Little tinkering with the controls and I had two acres cut in time to come in and cook dinner! Adjustable seat and throttle control is phenomenal, for the price you can't beat this mower, first one I've ever purchased and I love it. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a piece of gear !st Purchased this at Home Depot in Madison Alabama..From the moment is stepped foot on the lot and actually advised Cindy and another rep that i was aslo looking at The Blue stor..Customer service was excellent..It was deliver by i 'Think" Justin..or Dustin..again excellent Customer service thre roughtout. The mower..i did A LOT of research..it is actually made by Husqvarna..complete with a 10 Year Ceck warranty. This is not some MTD knockoff Branded as another name> DO YOUR RESEARCH and you will be AMAZED at whom really makes several of the other Names. The Mower is an absolute well made machine.. The motor starts asap..purrs like a kitten and pulls lie a Siberian Husky Sled dog..It has an oil filter, a reverse mowing ( keyed switch) Everything form the Frame thru the steering..annd the axle are top notch. My bride of 43 years and i could not do the pushmower on our Acre plus property. Just a footnote i am not knocking MTD..They have deen around foreveer and make a fine mower..But I am not going to Pay for a Higher Nameplate that was made by MTD..with 15 other names. Kudos to my Local Madison Home Depot and Husqvarna and Poulan

Pros - Unit has a nice sturdy mowing deck, looks good, is easy to engage the blade, and is fast! Cons - Unit feels more cheaply made than Craftsman products. This unit has an issue with the idle arm / parking brake / brake pedal that makes a metal clanking noise. A prior review mentions this. I took it back to HD and they said that the unit had bad gas. WRONG!!! Then two more techs came out and looked at the unit. According to the store both techs said the issue was the idle arm / brake assembly. They indicated the noise was caused by a poor design that does not have a fix. The store manager took a new one and it does the same thing. Buy a different model or brand!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Grasshopper Mower was great, once it was off of the shipping crate. Took me over an hour to figure it out. Another hour cutting the under crate off once the the top part of the crate was removed. There was no way to push the mower off the crate. The wood was too tight under the cutting blade to allow it to move. Some of our lot is very uneven and the ride in that area is bumpy so I had just one little problem with the mower motor cutting out, backfiring and just stopping all together. It took us a little while to figure that one out. You see, I only weigh 125 lb and the shut off switch under the seat was set too sensitive. Just a minor adjustment and all is well. All in all it is a great little mower.

I received the mower assembled drop-shipped to my home and the mower makes grinding sounds from the rear axle (sounds like it is in the transmission) when going in reverse or pushing forward/backward in free-wheel mode. I checked with Home Depot and was redirected to the manufactured (Poulon). I called Poulon and they directed me to their authorized mechanic shops. Unfortunately, all the shops have a 2+ week delay before they will even pick it up. After that, they said there will be more delays until they can look at it, diagnose the issue and then work with Poulon on warrantee coverage. It sounds like I will be out of a mower for over a month and that’s the best case scenario. The shops are going to charge me $100 to have my mower transported to their shop and they said the warrantee will not cover that. I hope this story has a happy ending but it looks like I will need to hire a landscaper in the interim to mow my lawn because I do not have an extra mower. 1 week into owning the mower, I am out $100, paying for a landscaper ($200/cost) and mower-less for at least a month. If any Poulon/Home Depot representative can help me, I would really appreciate it. I’m not posting on this site to bash anyone but want future buyers to know of the potential issue they may encounter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Decision I could have made I have bought used riding mowers from Craigslist for 200 dollars to last 2 years the engine goes, put another engine in lasts a year. I finally broke down and bought a this riding mower. I read a lot of reviews on this mower and the next size down. I'm very impressed with this mower for the price I paid for it and how sturdy it was built. The man who thought you needed a size 12 shoe for the gas threw me for a loop. I ware a 8 1/2 shoe and I have no problems with it. I do not know if they fixed this problem already before I got mine or that guy was exaggerating a little bit. I have 3/4 acres at my house that this mower makes short work out of it, it cuts just as good at high speed as lower speeds. The bracket the man talked about is true and do not know what it was for so I took it off. I love this mower it's easy to operate, great turning radius, sturdy, and I love my cup holder. For the money you can not beat this mower I feel. I only had it 3 weeks now so first impressions are very good. I will up date this review when I have had it for a while. As far as I'm concerned at the moment if you keep up the maintenance there should be no reason why this mower will not last. I will let you know at the 6 month point if this mower has problems, but as for right now I do not for see that happening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First use - very impressed Just received the mower today. Did a quick check of the oil, charged the battery for an hour or so, checked all the bolts and nuts and everything seemed fine. Started right up. Two things impressed me most. First, the cutting speed. The spec is listed as 6.2 MPH forward speed. It feels like I'm flying compared to the 2003 troy-bilt it's replacing. The second thing is the turn radius. This thing feels like it'll turn 180 degrees in a phone booth! Again, much better than the troy-bilt it's replacing. It cut the grass well. Overall I'm very pleased with the mower. As I use the mower more, I may adjust the rating if there are any problems,

The tractor is well built. The only issue that I had was with Home Depot themselves. I ordered on line and had it delivered. When it arrived the tractors battery was dead so instead of being able to put it to use I had to charge the battery. This should have been tested prior to delivery. OF course I guess that would be if someone at home depot cared enough to make sure that the product they were delivering was in working order. I called the store and was treated very poorly as if it was my fault the battery was dead. So for the dead battery and the uncaring attitude on the phone all I can say is shame on you Home Depot.
