Questions & Answers

Is this a refurbished

Is this a refurbished
Asked by: Pico
I purchased one on 12-10-18 and picked it up on the 15th- my unit was Factory Reconditioned. I am not sure as to how or why I ended up with a Factory Reconditioned unit since it was not mentioned on the HD website or in any of the paperwork that I have from the online order. I learned that it was reconditioned after I unloaded the box from the truck (HD associates loaded it into the truck for me).

Does the cable for the Snow blower’s electrical starter is included or I have to purchase it separately. Thanks

Asked by: Mo
No it is not included. All you need is a 3 prong drop cord.

Are you fine to use the electric start with any type of grounded 3 wire extension cord, or is one provided for you on purchase?
Asked by: joesmith
There is NOT one provided. Just use your normal 3 prong extension cord.

Did research for hours and read all reviews of the possible blowers available that would meet my needs. Bought this blower just in time! Chicago was in the path of a winter storm and we received 6 inches of powdery snow. Easy set up, just make sure the cables are straight and not tangled as they will affect the chute (as I found out). Started right up and got down to the driveway. Threw the snow a good 25 feet. As you can see by the photo it did great, though I did put salt down after, hence the completely clean walkway. I was very impressed with the fast and easy set up, ease of use and its throwing capabilities. Cut right through the snow. Would definitely recommend.

It's expensive, yes, but not when compared to other two-stage blowers from Cub Cadet, Ariens, and so on. What's the trade-off for this low price? When you open the box, it will probably be missing several screws or washers. Nothing that can't be found during a quick trip to HD. I wouldn't bother with their customer service, based on what I've heard from other people. Many of the bolts will be loose, so go around the machine and tighten them up. I added loctite to some of the bolts. If you fail to tighten them, some will vibrate off while using the machine. As for the performance, it works really well. Moves a bunch of snow no problem at all. Powersmart sources the engine from another company and it seems to be well made. Operating the rig is easy; it's tough to turn the wheels on dry ground, but no problem with snow on the ground. Bottom line -> expect some minor trade-offs for the low price (missing screws, loose screws, poor customer service), but once you get it dialed it will perform.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. But it is a little too... So far, so good. But it is a little too early to know for sure. We've only had one 6" snow.Cleared the driveway and sidewalks easily though. We will see what its longevity is like.I doubt it will serve me for 25 years like the McCullough that I finally just replaced. But if it lasts 6 years, I will get my money's worth.PROs: Fairly simple to assemble (although the instructions aren't all that great). It started right away in 5 degree weather with both electric and pull cord. Runs very smoothly. Strong snow throwing capability.CONs: It is a little slow, but more than adequate. I miss the 5th and 6th speeds I had before. Some control locations are a bit awkward. As usual in China-built power equipment, there were stripped threads to contend with. At least this time I fixed that without having to buy a replacement part (like my Toro lawnmower).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal for the $$$ I have been looking at snow blowers for a few years and after last winter, was set on buying a 24" wide blower for $799.00 when I saw this one for $489.00 on line at Home Depot. I have not heard much about the brand but reviews were good. Combine the over $300.00 savings I gave it a shot. The assembly was very easy and took about 30 minutes without rushing, just make sure that you release the Auger and Drive handles before trying to assemble the handle frame. Otherwise you will be fighting with short cables. I only used it one time so far for 5" of wet snow/slush. The plug in electric start is a must for any Blower. I plugged it in gave three pushes on the fuel primer and the motor fired up strong on the first push of the start button. The 208cc did a very good job of throwing the wet/heavy snow. Can't wait to see how it does with dryer snow. I ran it for about 1.5hrs clearing a 150ft driveway and 200ft of sidewalk (2 neighbors included) and still had gas left.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk Maybe we just got a lemon. Very, very hard to start from new, it’s like it has no gas or no plug but everything is fine, very very hard to start. Got it running for a little bit, and ran good, but came in the house for a while and then went back out and it won’t start again! Now the electric start does not work! WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK! This is going back to Home Depot tomorrow

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy This low cost 2 stage snow blower works better than I was expecting. Clears down to the surface as long as there is now heavy ice build up. The loss of the star is for the controls for transmission and auger as to me they seem to be backwards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does the job I bought the snowblower 2 months or so ago, it is reliable so far ! It does what it needs to do, but it sure feels cheap. It is not a 3,000$ snowblower ! I did not have any issues so far with it !

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Cheaply Made Second season in a row where the pins that are responsible for driving the spinning snow thrower, have broken. Product is 3 years old. Buy with caution.
