Hello, and thank you for your question about the PowerSmart 24in snow blower. The skid shoes are adjustable to lower the auger, but 2 stage snow blowers are designed not to clear all the way to the pavement to prevent damage to the augers or driveway.

Answer

Hello, and thank you for your question about the PowerSmart 24" snow blower. There are no videos for assembly, but it's pretty simple. Connect the cables together by inserting the post on one end into the hole on the other end. Next, attach the handles using the 4 bolts included. After the handles are assembled, attach the chute and connect the rod to it.

How durable is it

Like all gas powered snowblowers there is a level of maintenance that is required. It is more maintenance than a walk behind lawnmower, whereas a walk behind gas lawn mower basically has the engine drive shaft connected to a cutting blade, very straight foward power delivery. But...for a gas power snowblower like this one, the engine shaft transfer power via pulley and belts to turn the friction disk, worm gear to the impeller and auger and the to also drive the wheel of the snowblower forward and backwards by the speed selector. So where you have all these points of transfer of power, you have belt stretch, friction disk failure, alignment problem of the drive selection, etc. that if you or your spouse is not mechanically inclined, be prepared for budgeting for snowblower maintenance service that will cost $ depending on your local. Similar to the maintenance of your car, thus durability will also be affected by the degree of maintenance put into it. Otherwise, reading the manual, looking at the youtube videos, and what others do to maintain their snowblower will help optimize the durability of any gas snowblower of this type you choose from the various manufacturers.

Used it 4 times so far, thing is a beast. If you give it a good pull the first time it'll start right away (with 2 primes).

OK Machine - Chute Needs Work
Used twice to attack recent heavy snowfalls in Ottawa. Works well in terms of power, but on second use the auger did not engage right away, and had to manually fiddle with the blade before it would start up. Main criticisms: (1) chute turning is rough and does not turn 180 degrees as advertised (maybe 160 degrees), making it difficult to direct the snow where you want it as you move down the driveway; (2) rear speed is dreadfully slow.

Did research for hours and read all reviews of the possible blowers available that would meet my needs. Bought this blower just in time! Chicago was in the path of a winter storm and we received 6 inches of powdery snow. Easy set up, just make sure the cables are straight and not tangled as they will affect the chute (as I found out). Started right up and got down to the driveway. Threw the snow a good 25 feet. As you can see by the photo it did great, though I did put salt down after, hence the completely clean walkway. I was very impressed with the fast and easy set up, ease of use and its throwing capabilities. Cut right through the snow. Would definitely recommend.

This product did not come fully assembled and the store did not offer to assemble it for me. I had to put in a request to have it assembled. After getting it home I noticed that several screws and bolts were not tightened properly along with the Cotter Pin not being in to secure the Chute Handle which I found out while using the snow blower the first time. When using the handle to rotate the chute it came loose and I had to manually rotate the chute the whole time I used the machine. I don't think this is the product fault but the shipping process and store should have done a better job in doing the final assembly of the machine.

Although I am pleased with my purchase, I was sent a Factory Reconditioned snowblower. Nowhere on the webpage or in the order does it say that the snowblower was going to be a factory reconditioned unit. I discovered that the unit was not a new unit once I unloaded the boxed unit from the back of my truck (the associates loaded the unit into the back of my truck). It does come with the 2 year warranty and I opted to purchase the extended 3 year add-on. As for the snowblower, it appears to be well made. It was easy to put together, but the instructions are not the best in the world. I have one odd looking clip of some sort that I still have not figured out what it is, so i will go through the instructions again to see if I can figure this one out.

After topping off the oil and adding fresh gas, I read the starting instructions. This is the first electric start snow blower I have. It started right-up after I pushed the start button. It also worked great in the snow. The first time used in about a 4-6 inch snow fall. It cleared the snow very easily. I was really impressed when it cleared heavy snow banks. Based upon the price, function, and working of this snow blower, I would recommended it.

I have only had to use this twice so far, but both storms were significant. This handled the amount of snow and the heavy stuff at the end of my driveway. I have arthritics in my fingers and my last snow blower would be painful to hold down the throttle. I have not had that issue with this snow blower. It is very easy to manuver. I have had some difficulties starting it but I am pretty sure that has been user error. I would recommend this.

Not bad. I was desperate rushing to Home Depot during 1/4/18 snow storm in Boston. My old blower died and I needed the lowest cost snow blower I could find. Only 3 blowers on floor! 12” of snow. Snatched the PowerSmart and did the job immediately. Snow tomorrow, I’m ready!
