43cc Wheeled String Trimmer Mower with Blower Attachment Combo Kit

I got this string trimmer and like a lot of others, didn't like the string head on he unit. I couldn't edge more than 50 feet along my chain link fence before having to replace the string which was a pain. I bought a bump head and installed it. I had to space the string cutter lower also so that it would work. After this modification, this unit worked great. Should have come from the factory with a bump head on it.

Got this trimmer a few months ago and the black metal piece you attached the trimmer line to cracked in half the first time I used it. Called powermate for a replacement piece. They discontinued the part I needed and sent me a part from another trimmer that was a different color and totally different set up from the original. Took several weeks to receive it in the mail. Requiring me to completely take apart the trimmer head. I'm really disappointed in this product and feel ripped off. I will never buy a powermate product again. Complete garbage.

The trimmer advertised is the Powermate PWSTM4317, what I received is the Powermate PWSTM4317.2, which has replaced the PWSTM4317 very recently (as of May 9, 2019 when I received mine after ordering it online on May 1st). The difference that I know of is the new version has a different trimmer head assembly. IT DOES NOT ACCEPT/USE THE LARGER .155" TRIMMER LINE THAT IS RECOMMENDED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS LISTED ON THE HOME DEPOT WEBSITE. And it is the size of trimmer line I purchased, so I am down $14.97 plus tax. HOME DEPOT needs to update their website to reflect the new product and also it's specifications and new assembly instructions and use videos, if available yet from the manufacturer. The reason for my lower rating on the Quality is that a receiver on the trimmer head (there are 2), broke off after about 90 minutes of use. Also, the swivel control switch is plastic and it is not staying attached at the handle; it is screwed in, maybe the plastic was not of good quality. Perhap it should have a metal screw bolt receiver like the trimmer guard uses. I had read in reviews that other buyers had issues with this also. Perhaps that switch should be in a metal housing. So I will have to wait and see over time whether those are just fluke problems. The Ease of Use - highest ratings for this. This is superior to carrying around a stick model trimmer. No fatigue after 3 hours of using the Powermate. It cut pretty well after the one line receiver broke, it was fantastic when both trimmer lines were cutting. The trimmer line guard does work very well also; with traditional stick trimmers I would be covered in grass debris after a couple of minutes and I did not have to brush off my pants after 3 hours. It moves very easily with the large wheels and it has 2 settings for the handle to accommodate taller and shorter people. It started immediately. The thumb throttle lever is not fatiguing at all; I have arthritis in my thumbs and this was one of the best manual throttles I used on smaller equipment. Powermate is sending me a new replacement trimmer head assembly and the Customer Service person was very helpful. Unfortunately, it will take 7-14 days for the new part to ship and it is rattlesnake season.

I call mine "Gilligan" because it is my little buddy. It has been the greatest tool purchase ever! Cuts through tall weeds with ease! A piece broke off at first use, called the company and the replacement part came a few days later. Love this tool! Easy pull start, easy to adjust, it's light and cuts great.

I have used it about a year now and still love it. Found that premium gas works best also. After the string holder broke I replaced the standard string attachment with a bump string attachment, works fine. I also removed the cutter and installed a caster wheel, love it. Moved the cutter to another location.

First 2 weeks and we LOVE it!!!!!!!! We have about 30 acres separated into 5 pastures to keep trimmed under the fencing and around my barn area, in addition to our home/yard and my elderly Dad's (with a 3 acre yard). My husband and I were both to the point we could no longer tote and trim with a regular weed trimmer. This is an absolute breeze to get the job done. All we had to really learn was the best position to put the trimmer head for the particular area we were doing. At first we were hesitant about getting a manual one instead of self-propelled. This is so light weight and easy to push, we were glad we didn't waste our money on one of those.

The edger attachment is an add-on accessory for the Powermate Wheeled String Trimmer. I don't know what I was waiting for... well I wasn't really aware of the awesome trimmer. I love this thing, it works great. Every year I start the chore of getting the lawn in shape, one of the more daunting tasks is edging along the sidewalk, path and driveway. The grass and soil encroach and my old edger just couldn't keep up. It would bog down and stall and I'd have the cut the edge the old fashioned way. With this attachment it powered through the soil and turf like a hot knife through butter. It attaches to the trimmer in less than a minute, it has a simple depth of cut adjustment and the blade is replaceable and works great. I wish I had known about this years ago! The wheeled trimmer is also awesome! It is loaded with features. It is simple to assemble, it is easy to operate and saves time and ibuprofen . The trimmer accepts 3 different sting thicknesses, I prefer the thickest, 0.155 because it's the easiest to load, the other two use a different loading mechanism that has gotten gummed up. The head pivots and bevels easily allowing you to trim along fences without bumping into it. The trimming head "floats" along the ground and allows me to trim/mow the pasture in a fraction of the time it used to. It's a 2-stroke engine which requires gas and oil mixture and the manufacturer is really strongly advocating fuel additive to prevent problems with ethanol in gas. So far it's been a one or two pull start and it runs strong. The only complaints, the thumb throttle is not so ergonomic when going over uneven ground. The string attachment mechanism for the thinner diameters doesn't work so well. It gets fouled up with weed stuff and required disassembly. Not a huge issue as I like the the thicker line, but it's an issue all the same. This is the best lawn equipment discovery I've made in a long time. If you have a lot of trimmer/edging, you won't be sorry you chose this.

Most people who like to use an edger land up buying a seperate piece of equipment. This attachment for the Powermate wheeled stringed trimmer is a better way to go. Only one piece of equipment to maintain. I have about 800 running foot driveways and sidewalks that my wife demands to keep tidy and neat. The unit is light enough so either of us can use it. She refused to use the hand held unit that this replaces. It goes around curves well. Over time also cuts down the amount of weed eating you have to do. You can get a neat as job as hiring a professional to do it. It attaches easily with no special tools
