A: Preen Garden Weed Preventer prevents weed seeds that are listed on the label from germinating when applied according to label directions. Rhubarb weed is not a weed that is controlled by Preen in garden and lanscaping beds. We recommend contacting your local county cooperative extension agency for further assistance. Thank you!

Q:I need to control weeds in a moss covered yard without adversely impacting the moss. I have read that a pre-emergent herbicide containing corn gluten or trifluralin is what I need. Will this product work?

doesn’t work !!

I put this pre-emergent down prior to it raining and I have a ton of weeds !!! I will not be purchasing this ever again and I will be getting a refund !

Wasted money

Purchased your product for years and have never seen it work so poorly. I even reapplied and still am spending hours weeding my garden. It's either a bad batch or they're reformulated and it's now a bad product.

Prevents weeds from growing, does job.

This item prevents weeds from growing for 3 months, really no more than 3 months, so, about 90 days. It works pretty well, not 100%, but close. Preen starts working when it is ‘activated’ by water (rain, hose, etc.). I always use the rain to activate it, so, scheduling when I put the Preen down is important / depends on upcoming weather. 1 of these bags weighs 32 pounds total. To use, put the Preen in a yellow-shaker-Preen bottle, filled all the way up, that then weighs 8 pounds…spread with that shaker, holding in hands the shaker, shaking out the Preen particles, that’s what I do, it works! Preen especially works great in small-rock-beds, as well as all mulch beds. Do not touch Preen with barehands and do not breathe-in the Preen smell, as it is a chemical still…not good for any human contact. I use Preen because it helps prevent weeds, that’s it. Other than that, it doesn’t do anything else, it’s okay. 4 outta’ 5 stars, no more than that. If weeds were nonexistent, I definitely wouldn’t want nor need to use Preen. :) :(

Great product

I use this product every 3 months on my mulch beds and I have minimal weed issues. I have been using this product for 4 years and my mulch beds look fantastic. This container is nice to buy it cheap. Once I'm ready to put preen down, I dump this bulk container into the smaller preen container with the spout for easy application. After I apply preen to the mulch, I water it in. This product has met my expectations and I have not had a reason to dislike it.

Great for weeds

I use this product every 3 months on my mulch beds and I have minimal weed issues. I have been using this product for 4 years and my mulch beds look fantastic. This container makes it easy to apply the granules because of its spout built into the cap. I buy Preen in bulk and dump it into this container to do my applications. I water mine in after I put it down. This product has met my expectations and I have not had a reason to dislike it.

Good product, read the label first

Got this after searching HD website for “pre-emergent” treatments and then filtered by “lawn” and this came up. After applying, I went back to the bag to check what it prevented against and it clearly says “not for lawns”.

Thank you for your review! Preen Garden Weed Preventer is only for use in landscape or garden beds. If this was applied to a lawn we would recommend heavily watering the area where applied. preen
