Decide by yourself.
In 2020 Home Depot (H/D) went to a different company for wood pellets (per their employee), the brand is Lignetics-Green-Supreme (not named on their website), this brand claims to be Premium Wood Pellets. H/D typically sells them by the skid (pallet) although you can buy by the Each. Every skid holds 50 bags, 40lbs each, that comes to 2,000 lbs, costing $249. After arriving home we unraveled, what seemed like miles of, clear plastic wrap. The plastic wrap covers all four sides but does not cover the top. The skids are kept outside and are exposed to the elements. Once the clear plastic was removed there's a heavy duty 1 piece square tarp/bag covering the bags. The bag came off easy because it was not stapled to the skid. As suspected the 40LB bags were wet, oddly on both sides across most of the rows, we wiped them down prior to storing them inside. Also, 2 of the bags had rips/tears so pellets were falling out, we taped the holes. The bags have tiny perforations along the sides, that allows the bag to breather, unfortunately is also allows moisture to get inside the bags. The bags are clear on the one side so the wood pellets are visible. Some of the pellets had a "swollen" appearance, meaning they were exposed to moisture. It will be interested to see how these burn, if H/D continues to use the same supplier we will probably go elsewhere for the wood pellets considering we've been burning 2 tons the prior couple years.

Bags of sawdust
I bought three bags of these from my local Home Depot at Fort Union. One bag was good the other two were nothing but sawdust. A waste of money.

These pellets do burn hot which is a great thing. But they are pretty ashy which requires more cleaning on my stove. If you're buying bulk these are the way to go. After i clean my stove i can get over 24hrs on a bag on a medium setting. Ive burned top quality pellets and i don't have to clean as much but the heat never gets as hot as the stove chow which in my opinion is key. I heat my entire house with pellets and from time i shut it down, let it cool, clean it, and fire it back up my house does not drop in temperature. If you don't use 6 ton then find a buddy or 2 to split them with. At just over 200 a ton you can go wrong. Just keep your stove clean which also helps you to see if there are any issues going on.
