Questions & Answers

How much stain is needed to cover 8'x10' deck?

Asked by: Coop
Depends on the deck's wood. I applied this to a year-old dry pine fence that was pretty rough, and got more than 200 square feet per gallon. So your 8 x 10 deck could easily be done with a gallon, and if it's smooth enough, maybe even just a quart.

Can spray this on my fence?

Can spray this on my fence?
Asked by: Roger
Yes, it works well to spray Preserva Wood onto your fence. You can use the pump sprayer that is sold in the Paint Department at Home Depot. Make sure you stir the stain well each time you add it to the sprayer and periodically back brush with a 3 or 4 inch brush, to eliminate any runs or uneven areas. Grab some mineral spirits for clean up.

could this be used on a front door

could this be used on a front door
Asked by: ranger
Preserva Wood Summit Cedar probably isn't the best product for staining your front door. Preserva Wood is formulated as an exterior wood stain, primarily for fences, decks and wood sided homes. Exterior softwoods such as redwood, cedar or pine are most common. Your door is probably made from a hardwood, so a stain that was specifically formulated for hardwoods would be the way to go!
