Blown Away!
As someone who refurbishes furniture, I am always on the lookout for new tools of the trade. I came across the Preval paint sprayer system and decided to give it a try. All I can say is where has this thing BEEN all my life? While you do need to use multiple coats of paint (due to the thinning required for proper operation), the sprayer gives a beautiful, smooth surface without those annoying brush marks or dimpling caused by rollers. I will say one of the extra cylinders I purchased was a dud...it was missing the red button in the sprayer head so it would not spray. I was able to easily exchange it, and while I was at it I bought two more! I'm SO thrilled with this thing. It's going to make flipping furniture so much easier!

Worked well for a minor repair on my car. I already had the base color and clear coat. Just needed an applicator and the Preval sprayer did that for me.

Ordered two. Used them exactly as directed and it never reached the sprayer. The pressure in the can shot the paint out the bottom of the can and it made a huge mess. I thought maybe one of the cans was bad, until the same thing happened with the other can. Would not recommend.

    Great idea, poor execution
Instructions say to thin your paint per the manufactures suggestion. The manufacturer of my paint said not to thin it so I simply filtered it and put it in the bottle in its original concentration. Barely any came out after multiple attempts until I finally added water to my latex paint. Once I diluted it it worked fairly well...and then it ran out of propellant. When it is working it is exactly as advertised, but it clogs easily and doesn’t last nearly long enough for the cost. I’d recommend it, but only if you need to spray your household paint and brushing is not an option...and only because there is no other option for a disposable small volume sprayer.

For people having a problem with the sprayer shooting out nothing but air, I found a solution; although, it may not work for everyone. I've bought these before and never had to do anything to get them to work properly with a very thin liquid finish, but recently bought two that would only send out air. I even tried them with just water and that didn't work. The solution I made was to remove the plug at the bottom of the tube that goes into the bottle. Now both of them work fine. I thought maybe the plug holes were blocked, but looking with a magnifying glass they seemed okay, so not sure why that caused the problem. Removing that plug may not work right if you use something thicker than the watery finish I was using. I sent Preval an email on this and they responded in a couple days asking for store information and if I was still having problems, so they responded quickly, but I told them I'd found this solution.

What a Fail!! I purchased the system and an extra aerosol bottle, I ran my paint thru cheesecloth and diluted it 3-1 as recommended. It sprayed for about 60 seconds and then ran intermittently then finally just sprayed air. Project was 4 faceplates so very small project. So frustrated to do all the prep, then have the project ruined as well as the waste of money on Preval.

Does not work. Bought 2 to make sure it was not a defective unit. Still no luck. I took it to the paint representative at store and he was unable to get it to work. They gladly refunded by money but I was out the paint I wasted. Do not recommend.

I used the preval system to apply spar varnish on wood.I thinned the varnish with mineral spirits. 70% varnish, 30% mineral spirits . It was awesome. I would highly recommend this for touching up or doing bright work on your boat. Very easy clean up. I was able to cover between 30 and 35 square feet with a single airisol canister.

              Don't waste your time
I agree with a previous post, all the positive reviews must be from family members or people that work for the company. Total waste of money. Thought I could do a small job and thinned the paint as recommended by the manufacturer. Paint didn't even come out. Threw the product away. DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!

              Does not work
Don't waste your time or money. Any positive reviews for this product have got to be coming from a relative or someone who works for the company. It's total junk. I can't believe Home Depot even sells it.

USELESS!!, no matter how much I thinned the latex paint nothing came out. It did spill paint everywhere when I tilted it over 45 degrees. This product was a total waste of my time and money!

A waste of time and money
I bought this to use some custom tinted paint on a vintage stool. I followed the straining and thinning instructions and practiced on an insignificant project. All that happened was a slight "texturing" effect took place. I even thinned the paint a bit more, stirred it up, replaced the canister and tried to spray it at the 45* angle and.....nothing.

                      Did not work.
I bought two of these little sprayers, thinking they would be super handy to Spray the custom color paint I was using on our louvered cold air return vents… However as much as I thinned the paint, I still got zero paint color coming out of the spray bottle; only air. Tried again using my second one... same result. Returned the products to store. Do not recommend.

                        Super Handy & Versatile
This sprayer is so quick and easy to use, which I like since I tend to get distracted easily from projects. Anyway, you add your paint (any type) and a bit of thinner (like water) to the sprayer jar. Screw the aerosol can on, tilt to around 45 degrees and spray. I like to use it for small DIY projects around the house and it's a great crafting tool too. I've even heard people say it works great to touch up paint nicks on cars. I use the sprayer so much I've bought 5 (and want more!) because you can keep your paint mixture in the jar til you're ready to use it again. Highly recommended!
