AnswersIt holds my 14 inch pots that were heavy enough to bend a normal shepherds hook. You must keep it balanced though or it will tip over. Hang 2 pots at the same time on opposite sides of the tree. Much easier to accomplish with a buddy.

AnswersI guess you could bury the bottom portion if you had to. Not sure if it would rust quicker under the ground however.

AnswersI had one for 8 years before one of the feet rusted and broke. It was outside and exposed to the elements in southeastern PA the whole time. We'll worth it!
The product specs say it is 66" high, but in all the photos of this product, it doesn't seem that tall. Is this stand 5'6" in height?

Has potential but is defective
I was excited about this product for my apartment balcony since I needed something to hang my bird feeders and plants on, but don't have a lawn for normal shepherd hooks.
Item was easy enough to put together and took me about ten minutes the first time on my own.
However it is defective! When assembled and standing upright with support, two legs do not touch the floor and need to be about a whole inch lower. Standing on its own, three legs touch the floor and the tree leans far to the side and looks silly and wobbly. Either the metal is curved incorrectly or more likely the holes cut into the metal for the screws are misaligned. I did take this thing apart and put it back together a couple times with the hook placements flipped, just in case, but got the same results each time.
I spent enough money that I'll take the time to pack it up for a store refund, but not risking an exchange unless I get another bad one. Anyway based on others' pictures it looks good if you get a proper model.

Sturdy and useful
I was really apprehensive about this product because it did not seem like it would hold four 18" planters. Well, it did. At least so far. I love the way it looks. It has suddenly added character to the patio. I even have a bird feeder on one of the hooks :)

Plant Stand or Bird Station, A+
This product was easy, way easy, to assemble and easy to move even if you're a senior citizen and out of shape. Easy to transport myself from the store and to a second-floor apartment. It looks great! I've put 2 fairly heavy bird feeders on it, one at a time, and it holds them easily.
Did I mention it is easy?!
