Product Details

This is an upgrade for the typical clamp style patio door handle in style and security. This clamp style latch is designed to meet or exceed an 850 lb. forced entry pull test, making it very secure. The clamp latches onto an extrusion (astragal) on the jamb. Inside handle is white diecast and has a projection of 1-7/8 in. from the door frame. Outside handle is white diecast. There are 2 interchangeable clamps to fit most doors. Mounting holes are 4-15/16 in. on center. Non-handed design makes it useable on right or left handed doors. To make this a keyed handle set use Prime-Line part E 2000.

A: The chrome clamp that you see in the photo clamps to the stationary frame of the patio door where there is a lip on the inside - of the room. The small white lock lever moves the chrome clamp. It may be hard to tell from the photo but the clamp is chrome and everything else is white. You can turn this door handle upside down so it would work on a door that opens from the right or the left. I installed two of these to replace thirty year old ones and it was a breeze. I hope this answers your question. I could not tell exactly what you are asking by your wording. The photo with the large handle is the view from the inside. The outside handle is not hooped and is like one inch wide and 7" high.

wrong clamp lock for our patio door frame

This handle set comes with two size options of the clamp. Even the largest/longest clamp didn't reach OUT far enough to catch the lip of the patio door frame. While changing out the clamp, the white plastic actuator broke - the tongue part broke off. This problem was a frequent complaint in the reviews I read. Customer Service was very responsive and helpful, but the unit was just a wrong fit for my door even though it was the only one I could find that had a chance of working for us. I had drilled new holes to secure the handle and we like its solid feel. We use a different locking system for the sliding glass door.

Nice replacement handle for the price.

I got this item along with a new set of rollers to replace my worn out handle and rollers on a set of 13 year old doors. This is a clamp style handle and it's hard to find a euro looking clamp style handle, most look cheap, but this one looks very nice. My door actually had 3-15/16 in. mounting hole centers and this one is 4-15/16 in. mounting hole centers, so I did have to drill 2 holes but other than that it worked the same as my old handle (new handle was slightly larger than old handle, so it covered my old mounting holes). My old handle had a keyed cylinder in it, so I punched the knock-out out on this handle and it works with the new handle as well. Quality is "OK" and it should last several years Instructions are lacking a lot of info for a newbie, but anyone with general skills should be able to replace without an issue.

There’s a plastic piece that’s in the center of the locking mechanism. This piece will break within a year or two. It’s frustrating because the handle looks great overall. It’s just missing durability. Also, there’s several different sized screws to account for different thicknesses of the door. Unfortunately, my door fell in the middle of these and the screws were either too large(making the handle impossible to totally secure), or too small(leaving the handle secure by just a quarter inch of threading). In addition, the last set I had to purchase came with threads that broke when I tried to fasten the handle. If I had the right tools I’d cut one of the longer screws to the right length but unfortunately I don’t possess such a tool.
