I have one mounted above it but it is set back into the wall a few inches with a mantle that sticks out about an inch or two as well. I have had no issues thus far going on 5 months. I will warn you against getting the blower that is paired with this fireplace though as it is absolute garbage.
No, this model does not have glass.
It appears that the logs do come with it. However, the Blower/fan assembly is listed for $113 and is Not part of of the unit..
I purchased around September last year. I ordered on line from the Home Depot web site. It's a great unit. I'm extremely satisfied.
Yes you can frame around it.
It adds noise for sure. I had one at first and found I didn’t need it.. have tw now without fans or blowers..
I built a face plate surround, using 1/4” cement board, cut to fit, painted black, sealed with a high gloss epoxy. Placed a base inside to hold insert at proper height to insure minimum clearance on the bottom. Insert has a finished lip on 3 sides to cover the rest of the opening.
Yes it does and my furnace went out for a cpl days around the 2 coldest days of the year last winter and it heated my 1300 square foot home kept it at 75 with just the fireplace running
This model is currently in production and is manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They should be in stock next week.
I purchased mine from Home Depot, it was shipped to my door free of charge. Given the issues that I am experiencing with the manufacture, I would not buy directly from them as I am confident that Home Depot will help me resolve my current issue with a broken log insert.
