A: Dimex - Do you know the difference between the shaft and head of a spike? Your specs say the shaft is .4 inch which is closer to 3/8 in not 3/4in.

A: The nylon anchoring spikes are very durable and can withstand most soil conditions. The following tips can help mitigate any issues you may run into. When working in hard compacted soil it is best to wet the ground prior to pounding the spikes. This will help to soften the soil and allow the debris underneath to shift easier. Always use a rubber mallet, not a hammer. Additionally, if you hit a large rock, it is best to relocate the spike. Small pebbles will typically shift, but larger debris can cause the spike to break. Thank you for your question, we hope this helps.

A: Good Morning Omar. We apologize for the fulfillment error. Dimex produces the ProFlex brand, as well as the Vigoro branded spiral spikes. There may be subtle differences, but no functional design changes that would impact the performance of the product. Again, we apologize for the fulfillment error and the confusion it has caused.

A: Hi, Omar, this is Karen. I bought this product for my house in MS more than a year ago, and I can't recall whether there was a brand switch in my spikes. So you're absolutely right to have Home Depot or the manufacturer address your question. I hope that they do so. Good luck.

A: I’ve used them and didn’t notice a difference they have work just fine for my application.
by|May 5, 2023
A: I have used both types, both worked equally.
It appears that an OEM has more than one customer. The substitution of brand name for equally performing available product to fulfill an order in a timely manner is not uncommon.

Can't be wrong with these anchoring spikes
If you are using ProFlex edging guard, these anchoring spikes are the must-have. I have several places around my house that has ProFlex edging guard used. To secure the edging guard in place, you will need these anchoring spikes to anchor the the guard securely to the ground. It has a unique spiral design which I assume helps to anchor it securely. Yeah, just buy these when using the ProFlex edging guard.
We us these garden spikes for holding down our land scape fabric and no-edge plastic border for or beds. We are planning on adding more no-edge borders so we went ahead and got the large 144 count. The spikes are made out of a tough nylon and can take being hammered in. Be careful that you make sure you are hammering this in were you want it because they are hard to pull out if need to make a change because they really do anchor well. The spikes are 8 inches long and have a spiral design that aids in the holding power. I also like that they are made out for nylon so they will not rust.
So happy to have this large pack of anchoring spikes for garden edging. It seems there are never quite enough spikes with the purchased edging. These 8" spikes add a real stabillity to the edging. Without these spikes closely spaced, the edging rolls onto it side permitting garden dirt and mulch to spill into the adjoining area. The spikes pounded in easily (we had a good rain last night) and really cleaned up the look of this garden under a few pines
These 8 inch black nylon spiral anchoring stakes work very wel in our Arizona desert (rocky) ground! Wasn't sure at first if being a nylon material would work out here because most of the ground is made up of rocks under th dirt!! But surprisingly they went through it pretty good. One did snap off about 2" from the top while hammering it in, but we expected that, so no big deal. They do stay in the ground very well, due to the gripping of the spiral design. We have used the straight spikes before and over time they just pulled up from the ground. We used these in an area we put patio blocks and artifical grass by our outdoor swing. We have already thought of a few other uses for them too, so I would recommend these stakes to keep on hand for yard work or projects around the house.
When you buy landscape edging they never give you enough spikes to really hold it in place. This 144 count of spikes gives you plenty to keep your edging from moving around.
Each spike is 8" and is spiraled, to give you good hold in the ground. I installed 100 feet of edging and these have kept everything in place. I tried to pull one out, just to test it's strength, and it took a bit of force to get it out.
They couldn't be simpler to install, just a hammer or mallet to get them into the ground. I find that a hammer works best so that when you get close to the edging you don't hit that instead of the top of the spike for the final blows into the ground.
I highly recommend these if you have a big edging project.
We've got a lot of landscape border in our yard, so we've used a lot of different landscaping spikes to anchor that border. This package offered a nice quantity of spikes so that we could firmly anchor the border into the ground and keep the landscaping where it is supposed to be. These are nice and long and very solid. The spikes have a spiral to them that helps lock them into the ground and the heads are large enough that you can hit them firmly with a mallet. The heads don't break off and the spikes are flexible enough to penetrate the ground well.
I bought four rolls of Vigoro edging and am disappointed with how few stakes came with the package. The grass and mulchline in my yard is on a slope and has several, narrow radius curves. The standard shipping quantity that came with the box is just not enough. These additional stakes work well, not only are they longer but they are very stout. I am pounding these stakes into hard Southern clay with a 20oz framing hammer. Not a single stake broke. Unlike a lot of imported plastics, these stakes hold up well. My edger looks much better and I don't have to worry about the edging moving when the lawn mower bumps up against it. Good edger, good stakes.
Our old metal edging was rusting and looking very ragged so I’ve been changing it out with ProFlex plastic edging using these ProFlex Nylon Spiral Spikes. These won’t rust away and will last much longer. I supplement the ones that come standard with the edging with these extras. Their spiral design allows them to easily penetrate hard packed soil and stay put. I also use these spikes to hold steady my Christmas inflatable yard displays by anchoring their support lines.
I am installing a boarder around several areas of my yard and found out quickly that I want more stakes than what was provided with the boarder. Was so happy to find these! Now I have more than enough to complete any job I want to do with them. I was a little surprised on how they came packaged, that does not effect how well they work. They do not break or even bend while you are hammering them in. Once in, they are there to stay. Very happy with this product, performs its job well.
