Why is the 18' less money than the 16'

Asked by Izzy October 29, 2020

Answer

Perhaps the 18 foot length is more popular and they can afford to offer a lower price. If it is too long you can easily cut it

do you have an adapter rail for 1/4 inch t ends my is 3/16 t ends and told no,.longer available

Unfortunately, we do not manufacture any adapter rails.

I need a seal that’s chipmunk proof! They keep chewing through them!

This seal is tough, but not sure if it's chipmunk proof; However, coating the rubber with silicone spray seems to repel mice and bugs. Hope that helps.

My garage door is only 1"1/8" wide will this work or is it too narrow

It will work. From our installation instruction: Position the track so it is flush with the outside edge of garage door (edge closest to the street when the door is closed).

how can you help stresed door

Sorry, there is not enough info about what the issue is ("stressed")... sagging, warped ? The type of door, 1 piece wood, metal, sectional roll up, etc and it's current opening mechanism to answer.

Can this product be used for a steel garage door?

Yes, I installed this on a steel garage door. The supplied screws are not self drilling so I would either get some self drilling screws or do like I did and drill pilot holes to get the screws started.

is this pretty easy for DYS and does the seal just slide in

Yes, slid in easy even on a cold day

does the kit come with the aluminum track that attaches to the door?

It comes with a plastic track, not aluminum.

Our garage door is only 1"3/4" thick. Will the rails fit on it?

Asked by Pawnstar October 3, 2017

Yes, but when closed the seal will flatten and be a little exposed.

My garage door is only 1.25 inches thick - will I be able to mount these seals?

Asked by Repairman September 6, 2017

Answers

Probably not. The rail width is 1-7/8” (from my kit purchased 18 months ago) and made from plastic that will probably break if hanging over and is struck. I know this is an old question, but perhaps the answer still helps others.

Overall this product works very well. If you are going to install this on a metal door, which was my situation, you will need to drill pilot holes because the screws are not self drilling or you can use self drilling screws if you have them.

I felt that it was difficult to slide in the rubber stopper. My old garage door had a single rubber where this was something you had to slide into making the bottom rounded. Two people are necessary to install otherwise the rubber keeps coming out. The suggestion of adding soap did help with the installation, If installed during the cold season the rubber doesn't seal. As it got warmer and the rubber softened it sealed better. Still not as good as the original seal that came with the garage door,

A very good product that seals the bottom of my garage door well. Aligning and attaching the channel strip required a second person to ensure it was mounted flush to the outside of the door. I would prefer a metal channel because the few times I slipped with my drill, I nicked the plastic channel and this made sliding the rubber seal on slightly more difficult. Overall, the product is worth the money and does it's job.

Generally satisfied except that inserting the rubber bottom is difficult even after soaking. It frequently jumped the track and had to be withdraw to the point where it left the track. Would an oil or vaseline product help?
