Q:Will these work with the eased edge deckorail posts which are not 4 x 4 but 3.375?

Answer This Question

A:  They work with a standard 4x4, and the outside dimension of a standard 4x4 is actually 3.5 inches. So you're only off by an 1/8 of an inch. You will need a bit of shim to make them snug.

      A:  This product does not have inside dimensions. The bottom surface is flat. The bottom dimensions are 3.5" x 3.5".

              A:  I tapped in a few finishing nails. I wouldn't use a screw as it would spoil the appearance.

                A:  You can attach them with fine Brad nails or with vonstrconstr adhesive. Our use both.

                A:  I used silicone adhesive after staining them inside and out. It should be reworkable in the future If needed, meaning you should be able to scrape it off with scraper and a heat gun vs construction adhesive which may not be able to soften w/ heat gun. I made four dime sized dabs of adhesive per cap. It's holding on well so far for a couple of weeks now.

                  A:  Mfg. site states: How do I properly secure my DeckoRail post caps to each post? Apply an exterior-grade caulk to the underside of the cap and slip it over the top of the post. Use hot-dip, galvanized finishing nails in high-use areas.

                  Disappointed to say the least
                  We bought these post caps to give a nice finished look to our deck and initially we were very pleased, but within months they are splitting and cracked and look terrible. Definitely not worth the $ wasted and now we have to replace w/something else.
