I have a single panel garage door (there are not multiple panels), I would like to insulate it but standard kits won't work because it's single panel. If I wanted to DIY insulation using these, what else would I need (for example what should I cover it with and what do I need to install)? Let me know if you have any feedback thank you.

Asked by: LadyICE
Hello LadyICE, the level of noise reduction is based on the complete wall assembly. Owens Corning Foamular has no sound-deadening properties. Thank you for your inquiry!

Asked by: boxbuilder
Any Utility Knife/Blade will cut this material. If you want nice, clean square edges to make a box, I would suggest you make several shallow cuts instead of trying to cut it completely with one pass. This material is very popular with miniaturists and model builders because of how easy it is to cut and shape. Great stuff.

If this gets wet will it swell and over time will it shirk from the sun & rain?
Asked by: Fran
Dear Fran: No, Foamular XPS foam board does not absorb water and will not swell if it is exposed to moisture. It is not designed for long term exposure outdoor, however. It must be covered, e.g. by siding or roofing. If you are installing this as insulation, also be sure to seal all of the joints and edges to block air leaks. DAP 230 works well for joints and small gaps. The 'Window and Door' version of Great Stuff spray foam is good for larger gaps. Also be aware that foam board is flammable and emits toxic gas when it burns. It must be covered by a 'thermal barrier' in any living space, garage, basement or attic storage area. The standard is 1/2" drywall. I hope this is helpful. Mark

I have a door to a porch in a small apartment that was loosing a bunch of heat and letting in the cold due to a single pane window. I cut the insulation to fit and covered the window both inside and out. Now from the inside the window area is warmer than the rest of the door.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Miniature buildings This project panel size is easy to manage. It will be used to build miniature buildings etc... No need to cut up the larger panel which is 4'x 8' ft in length. However, it is pricey. Some HD's panels are warped. I wished HD Marina del Rey carried the 1" 4'x8' pink insulation boards instead. They are more economical. This panels are easy and less messy to carved w/ a knife, hot foam cutter, etc.. Than other kinds of styrofoam.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised This foam board is exactly as described. It worked well for our needs. We used as a spacer for some exhaust fans, so the fans would look flush. Its cheaper to buy it in larger sizes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inconsistent sizing The panels were very inconsistent in sizing, ranging from 23 1/4" to 23 7/8" per side and none I found were square. Typically, a panel would be around 23 1/2" x 23 7/8. I needed them to be reasonably square and they weren't. This was the case with 2 display boxes of them. If you need reasonably consistent sizing, it's better to get a 1" x 48" x 96" sheet and cut your panels from that. Cheaper, as well, although the price would have been fine if the panels were consistent.
