Questions & Answers

Does this shrub produce seed - or is it sterile? Also, are these guarenteed for a year?

Asked by: Curious
This plant does produce seed. That's how they get their seeds and grow them. It will use it's own pollen and will likely produce seedlings that differ from its parent in subtle ways. If not guaranteed for a year, they should be. Because it was planted in bulb form. In order to make sure that it blooms, you have to wait until spring. Right now it's a wait and see.! Happy planting!

do these hibiscus shrubs keep foliage during PNW winters zone 8? Or, do they go bare sticks?

do these hibiscus shrubs keep foliage during PNW winters zone 8? Or, do they go bare sticks?
Asked by: peter
Probably bare. If you have any freezes at all, the leaves will shed. I live in Florida and mine are bare during hte winter after the first freeze

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy. I ordered 3 of the Blue Chiffon rose of sharon last week, and they arrived today. They were larger than I expected (about 2 feet +). They were in soil rather than bare root specimens, and they appear healthy. My only gripe is that they are full of buds and about to bloom, which shouldn't be happening this early in the year. That tells me the nursery forced them early. I'll plant them tomorrow, and hopefully next year they will bloom in late summer/early fall like they're supposed to.
